Robo is a humanoid robot that Crono, Marle, and Lucca find broken at the Proto Dome in 2300 AD. Lucca repairs him and we find out that he cannot remember his orginal purpose or mission. He decides that he will help your party, for the time being, access the gate that was discovered to be at the Proto Dome. They head off to the power plant, where Robo finds all his robot friends who tell him his mission is to eliminate intruders and that he is defective. They procede to destroy him. Robo's "friends" are the R series robots. Robo himself is a member of the R series as his serial number is R-66Y. After being trashed by his friends he is fixed again by Lucca. He decides after that that he will go with your party to help save the future as there is nothing left for him here. As he travels with your group, he learns to feel human emotions and grows close to everyone in the party, Lucca in particular. Eventually Robo discovers his true purpose at the Geno Dome, along with his real name, Promethus. From Atropos, Robo's girlfriend, we find out Robo was meant to study humans and report back to his fellow robots. In the end Robo's new found human emotions overtake his loyalties to his fellow robots and he rejects his purpose, shuts down the Geno Dome, and destroys his commander, Mother Brain.
