You play 1. c4 in the hope that you will be more familiar witht the resulting positions than your opponent. Your opponent thinks for a minute before replying with with 1. ... e5. The game continues 2. g3 Nc6, 3. Bg2 g6, 4. Nc3 Bg7, 5. e4 d6, 6. Nge2 Nge7, 7. a3 O-O, 8. Rb1 a5, 9. d3. Here you lose your nerve and offer a draw which your opponent accepts. Neither of you can claim your winnings and so you spend the rest of the day lying side by side on an embankment watching the world go by.
