ESTABLISHED IN 2010 CHERRYTREE HILL MEMBER OF THE O.F.V.B.A. SINCE 9/2010 TEAM ODESSA 4 LIFE! THE HISTORY OF CHERRYTREE HILL: Hi, may name is Lorcan, founder of Cherrytree Hill. My name comes to me via my late mothers Irish heritage, in Gaelic it means 'King of the Mountains'. The stable name 'Cherrytree Hill' is that of a house in which, and owned by my father, I spent my infancy. It had paddocks, and a small barn, with stalls for 6 mares with foals at foot. Sadly the only memories of this I have is by way of photographs in an album, as I was to young to be able to recall this in person. In my early teens I had a half dozen rides in 'pony' races in the 'New Forest', an ancient hunting ground formally frequented by 'Kings'. Quite appropriate, given the origin of my name! LOL. Unfortunately I didn't meet the requirements needed to succeed in this area, and after a particularly heavy fall, bottled it, and told my father to stick his ambitions for me to become a jockey up his arse! Probably the best, and certainly the most exciting, win I have had in my short spell at the game, was with a filly I claimed for $5 and won a fillies allowance at MNR. Her name is Remembesque, and on 9/28/10 in race 20, under an inspired 'hold up' ride from Ramirez E, over 1mile on turf, she got up in the shadow of the post, to win going away, magic! This however pales into insignificance when compared to the RL event on the day after my 17th bithday, when a horse I owned a share in won a little race at Nottingham. Shortly before the off, my dear old grandfather, thrust a roll of 'notes' totalling £1000 into my hand, and said, 'Wade in lad, and buy yourself a brand new car! I was waiting for your 18th, but we wont get a better chance than this!' I dutifully did as I was told and 20 minutes later was stood with £11,000 and not enough pockets to stuff it in! LOL! don't get better than that! As for long term aspirations on this site, my ambition is to breed and race a decent horse under the 'Cherrytree Hill' banner.
