Terminology and Abbreviations often found in Fan Fictions:
angst: story of a more serious, usually sad tone
BDSM: bondage/discipline/sadism/masochism
BP: Bitter Pill, a Placebo fan fic forum that i used to frequent
cross-over: story involving members of more than one band/movie together
fluff: usually a 'feel good' story, without much sex or violence
G: general, nothing bad so everyone can read it (that rules out all of my fan fics)
mary sue: when the writer writes themselves into the fic
M/M or M/F: male/male or male/female
NC-17: very explicit sex and/or violent scenes, don't read fics with this rating if you're underage
PG: parental guidance, usually just mild violence or language (again none of my fics fit this rating)
PG-13: parental guidance for 13 years old and under, for a little more mature audience, nothing too graphic though
PWP: "porn without plot" or "plot, what plot?", for fics that aren't much more than sex scenes
R: restricted, usually for violence, not very explicit sex scenes, and/or harsh language
slash: gay male sex (called slash as opposed to straight)
XXX: like NC-17 (but worse perhaps?)
