Multicultural Club History of Events in Year 2001
October
- Standard order of procedure was discussed and established.
- Officers visited Mission Middle School & Logan Fontanelle Middle School to discuss establishing a mentoring program with the Multicultural Council at Bellevue University.
- Started planning for Thanksgiving dinner.
- Council Brochure was developed.
November
- Made the decision to become certified through Teammates mentoring program.
- Thanksgiving Dinner was provided for students and members brought anyone who might otherwise not have Thanksgiving Dinner. Council members provided dishes from their country. After the dinner, there was dancing and many of the students from other countries demonstrated dances that are popular in their culture.
- Planning for the Winter Dance began.
December
- Drew names for Secret Santa.
- Sponsored two less fortunate families for Christmas, from North Omaha and from South Omaha.
- Luncheon for the families was held to present them with their gifts as well as to exchange the Secret Santa gifts.
- Discussed the creation of a newsletter.
- Members interested in becoming mentors were certified by Teammates.
- Members attended the Student Advisory dance to assist.
- A Winter Dance was held and was open to all students and their guests. Cost was $1.00 per person. Had guests from the community and from UNO.
