What
is the Acela?
The Acela is a high-speed
service, between Washington D.C. Union Station, and Boston South-Station,
making select stops in between.
There are two different
types of Acela, there's the Acela Express, the most well known high speed
train on the NE Corridor.
Then there's the Acela
Regional it's nothing to special, just old AEM-7 engines, but, on some
trains, you can find the Acela HHP-8, which is the High Horse Power Electric
dual ended locomotive. The Acela Regional has slightly refurbished coach
and business class cars, these train stops at a maximum of all stations
between Newport News, VA, and Boston South-Station.

Note: The station
stops vary from train to train, mostly on the Acela Regional. Also, a lot
of trains start in Washington and go to New York, or New York to Boston,
or the whole route. The Acela Express has recently (10/5) begun stoping
in New London, Ct. although it makes few stops here, it does at least make
2 stops a day.
