Interviews with Paul May

Everything I always wanted to know about Paul, but was afraid to ask. :-)

Paul May 1. When did you first know you wanted to be an entertainer? Any particular moment or experience that stands out in this regard?
Answer : When I was a Senior in high school I represented my school in a state talent competition. I won the competition and the feeling was such a rush, as well as performing in front of thousands of people, that I believe that was a key point in my life that I knew I wanted to do this for a long time.

2. What was your first paying/professional entertainment job?
Answer : My first singing gig was at Disneyland in CA. 1986- I was a singer with Mickey, Minnie and all the gang.

3. What is your entertainment background? (Music lessons, dance lessons, singing lessons, runs in your family, etc.)
Answer : I started singing in church choir at age 8 or so. I was involved in choir and band in high school and then after high school, I moved out to CA to be in the Young Americans Song and Dance Co. That was a major part of my continuing my performing after high school.

4. If you weren't an entertainer, what would you be/do?
Answer : I would probably want to be a lawyer involved in entertainment. What a jump huh?

5. What one show in Vegas or on Broadway, or anywhere, would you want to be in if you had your choice?
Answer : I really dig the music in Jekyll and Hyde. There aren't a whole lot of shows in Vegas that I haven't done that involve singers.

6. Any other areas of entertainment you'd like to pursue that you haven't already? (Be in a rock band, etc.)
Answer : I would love to do sitcom work, but the Hollywood rat race is really not for me.

7. What do you REALLY think of your fans/groupies?
Answer : Fans are really the best compliment a performer could have to his work. Someone who doesn't get tired of watching what you do? I don't think I could watch myself as much as some fans have. I would be my own worst critic though.

8. What kinds of fun things do you like to do in your spare time?
Answer : Play with my son. Go to movies. (That doesn't happen much anymore with a three year old.)

9. Where is your favorite place to vacation? (He'll probably answer Hawaii, huh?)
Answer : You guessed it. I love Hawaii. Thailand was pretty amazing too.

10. What kind of music do you like to listen to?
Answer : I think I am definitely an 80's child. All 80's all the time. You have to know I listened to Lionel Richie, Rick Springfield, George Michael, Sting.
