The Guide to Modification
Everyone does it, but no one should until they read this guide. There are some things everyone has to understand before doing anything to their gun, all are here.
The General Idea
Most people really don't know what a modification is, therefore cannot actually go look for them. Everyone knows that it usually makes the gun more powerful, sometimes makes the gun smaller, and sometimes makes the gun more convenient to use. Anyone can basically do the last two, so this guide basically only covers making the gun more powerful. Guns basically work like this: air is pushed out of a long tube by a plunger. The air hits the darts and the dart flys. The plunger is pushed forward by a spring. Is is your job as a modifier to either clear out the path of air to the dart so the air may flow more freely to it, or speed up the air that gets to the dart. Or if you are really clever, just do both. These things that stop air flow are call air-restrictors. You will know that they really suck when you start to mod things. To speed up the air you can use rubberbands, or thicker springs if at all possible. NEVER strecth the spring ass you may have heard on other websites! This is bad, and while it may increase pwer a little bit (believe me, very little) in the beggining, after that the spring becomes worn and the gun becomes very UN-powerful if you know what i mean. Basically doing this drastically decreases the life of your gun. Rubberbands work well to compress air faster, but do it to a riprocket gun you will blow a hole through all your darts.
Tools For All Mods
You always need the nessacary tools and equiptment to do it. You always must know this, because if you open your gun and try to do something without the right stuff, you're kinda in trouble. So stuff I'd make sure I always have:
Glue- You will use this a lot, sometime you just need stuff to stat where it is.
Screwdriver- to open the gun and to pry stuff out. You will also use this a lot. You will probably need philips hea and Flat head.
Plyers- They will give you the edge on grip and get out some air restrictors for you.
Hammer- Not used much, but used to bash air-restrictors out.
Saw- Not used much either, used to saw off air restrictors.
Duct Tape- Use your imagination, this stuff is magical.
Awl- These are fun to use, poke air restrictors out.
Vice- Not nessicarily needed, but good to stabilize the gun when doing thing. The gun is plastic, make sure not to break it.
Rubber Bands- Used in various situations in many different ways. The most common way to use rubber bands is to hook them around the pulunger to speed up air compression.
Open the Gun Mods
It is really sad actually. People just open the gun with out any idea what they are doing and waste themselves 15 bucks. So you never have this problem, here is the basic design of cocking weapons. The Basic Design of Pumping weapons will be along shortly. First, NEVER open a good gun unless there is a reason to mod it. One time i just wanted to take my Big Bad Bow apart and lost two springs. The gun is ruined and I can't find a replacement spring. What you need to do it open the gun, then look at the placement of everything before taking a single thing apart. Then slowly, peice by peice take everything out and do what you need to do. Most mods are imposible to do with all the guts still in the gun. What you want to do now is either find something that is restricting air and take it out, make the spring compress better (The SharpShooter II), or even replace the main spring with a thicker one. Always remember that pump guns are easiest to put back together, because there are less springs. Good luck.
Leave it closed.
Here, you mainly focus on taking out air restrictors. Just grab some plyers and yank 'em out. Some air restrictors are different though. Nerf Bow 'n Arrow uses the end of a tube, this would need to be sawed off. The Nerf 250 uses a little bar, that goes over the tube, just as Secret Shot does. Just cut that off with wire cutters. Other mods make the gun smaller, like sawing off the extra crap on monoblast, or taking off bow things on bows, or taking off yellow cocker thing on lock 'n load. Rubber bands around the cocker are good, but will blow holes through riprocket guns. If you can get your hands on a tourniquet (The things the doctors use to get your vain to show) they work wonders for the power of your gun. Most mods are easly done this way, but good luck anyway.
