This gung-ho girl from a Chinese Amazon tribe followed the gender-bending Ranma Satome to Japan to kill his girl-type self, unaware that she was actually a he due to a dip in a cursed hot spring that turns him into a girl. Shampoo later discovered the truth and fell in love with Ranma and accepted him as her fiance, even
though Ranma didn't look at it that way. She later moved into Ranma's town after returning to China. When she came back, however, she revealed that she was under the same type of curse as Ranma accept she would turn into a cute little pussycat whenever she came in contact with cold water. She could turn back to normal when she came in contact with warm water. The major downside to all of this
is that Ranma is desperately afraid of cats. Shampoo has tried many times to get Ranma to marry her along with getting help from her very old great-grandmother, Cologne, but has failed every time. Shampoo also has to contend with her old childhood friend, Mousse, who wants to marry her and is also cursed with changing when running into water. He turns into a duck when he gets wet. Shampoo is very determined to shrug off Mousse and win Ranma for herself.
