In a parallel universe from Earth where animals take
the place of humans, Japan is in the middle of its
fuedal period. Here a lone warrior rabbit named
Miaymoto Usagi travels around helping those in need.
Usagi learned his swordsmanship from the kyoto master,
Katsuichi. Katsuichi had his own school where he taught
the skills of a samurai, but he had to shut it down due
to lack of funds and then became a hermit near the
village of young Usagi. He took on Usagi as his pupil
and entered him in a tournament with the Dogara fencing
school. Usagi won, but this made the Dogara disciples
angry with Katsuichi and ganged up on him, sending him
off a cliff. Katsuichi survived, but not at the loss
of his left eye. He now still teaches his ways of the
sword to other students, including Usagi's unknowing
son, Jotaro
