From the ancient past of China there are many strange
creatures and spirits. One of which is the Ghost Cat.
He is the spirit of a large cat collar bell. When the
Chinese Amazon Shampoo tries to woo her wouldbe fiance
Ranma with the bell and its matching regular-sized
counterpart bell, the Ghost Cat appears and declares
that Shampoo should be his bride. But Ranma(who happens
to be a top-notch martial artist)challenges him, even
though that cats are his worst fear. Ranma ultimately
defeats the spirit with his "Cat Fist" attack which
he renders when he becomes so frightened by cats that
he mentally becomes one himself. The Ghost Cat goes
away, but only to meet up with Ranma's old rival
Ryoga and possesses his body to try to help him work
up the courage to profess his love for Ranma's real
fiance, Akane. But Ryoga rejects him and the Ghost Cat
is resorted to peddling cat collar bells on the streets
in the hopes that one of the high school girls will
be his bride.
