I have traveled these hidden roads, the forbidden paths, for nearly 3 years now. This last year however I had been a constant in this realm, I had hoped that the running was now over. I had now found a group I hoped I could travel with and call friends. I fear however that rather than being a friend to these adventurers I have condemned them in a way they may never fully realize.
I heard the chimes as we traveled on towards Olyn. I could have warned them but there was no time. Would they believe me had I the time? Not likely. They had taken up the quest laid before them no matter where that might take them. Unfortunately I fear they have unwittingly accompanied me on the hidden road.
It has been 2 days since the elves, the dwarf, and their companions left for Eveningsted in the employ of lady Araianna. I alone stay behind to aid in the relief efforts of Olyn. However the telltale signs have become apparent. I had hoped to never again see those signs.
It started very subtle, I almost missed it. Some one in the tavern referred to Eveningsted as Evensted. I am not native to this locale so I did not catch the change at first; as time passed more of these details shifted. Her majesty Lady Araianna’s name has changed. It shifted first to Aniranna, then Allabel, and finally to Alusair. The name of the town changed several times between the names: Olyn, Omyir, Comyn, and Cormyr. I have checked and noted the progress of my recent traveling companions hoping this madness had not spread to them. However it seems that they now find themselves moving towards neither Eveningsted, nor Evensted, but rather Eveningstar.
Perhaps even more disconcerting is the fact that I can not reclaim those companions nor explain to them what has happened. For this very day I found on the message board the very thing I most hoped not to see in this new land of flux. A sign which read:
This type of sign is all too familiar to me, they will be coming for me soon, I must move on. I have seen their shiny pelted stallions in the stables. My time is short. I wish my companions well on their journey; hopefully they can find their way home.
