Chapter Three
Justin and Lauren sat on the couch in the group's suite. They had put Kimberley and Lauren's bags in their room. "So what's been going on?"Lauren asked as soon as they sat down. "Touring, singing, and all thatyou know all the famous stuff. What about you? Anything new, or anyone new?" Justin asked."Well, let's see, classes, studying, and all that fun college stuff. You know normal stuff, not famous stuff like you." Lauren said poking fun at Justin's "all the famous stuff" Then continued with "Ahh, but what has been going on with you and Chrissy?""You don't hole back do you? Just jumped right into that question." Justin joked, and Lauren shrugged her shoulders as he continued. "We are very happy, I just saw her last weekend." Justin smiled thinking about Chrissy"I can't believe how patient she is with me being on tour and all that stuff. She is cool about all the teenage girls throwing themselves at me and doesn't get jealous. But it really hurts me when she cries because she misses me, or because someone said something about our relationship."Looking at Lauren he said "That is one thing you both have in common."Getting a puzzled look on her face Lauren started to ask something but shut up when Justin continued "You both are criers. Really emotional that is. But unlike you she doesn'thum how do I politely say thisshe doesn't have your temper." Justin says then ducks as he sees Lauren grab a pillow.The pillow just barely grazes Justin's arm and falls on the ground. "Hmm,you just proved my point perfectly.""LISTEN BOY!! I don't have a temper." Lauren said acting mad, but softened her voice to its normal tone as she continued "But I am glad you are happy. When do I get to meet this girl? You know she has to pass the test." Lauren joked."Yeah, I remember quite a few girls who did not pass that test.""Hey, I can't help it only the best can pass my test and be allowed to date my friend." "She'll pass I am sure. She'll even pass with flying colors. And hopefully you'll get to meet her this summer. By the way we need to discuss this summer." Lauren interrupts him by saying "Yeah what about it? I have 6 weeks of school left and then I am DONE till August.""If you would not have interrupted me I would have told you what I wanted.Now shut up and listen. I know your schedule." "Sorry, go ahead.""Thank you! What I was saying was, what are you doing during your summer break?""Well, almost four months offlet's see. sleep, rest, spoil my nephews, and all that fun stuff. But not really anything defiantly planned right now,WHY?" "Well, how would you like to spend sometime with me this summer. We are touring for all but a week of it, and I thought you might like to get out of Indiana for a couple months. You could join us, we have enough room on the bus and then I'll get to spoil my best friend for a couple months.
SO what do you say?" Lauren sat with a shocked look on her face for a few minutes then started quickly "Well, drop a freaking bomb on me. I would love to go, but what about the rest of your group? Surely they won't want me tagging along for a couple months." Lauren said then paused. Justin started to say something but was stopped by Lauren continuing "And what about my parents? Justin, you know them they won't go for me being gone for that long, it is bad enough when I am away at school. You know how protective they are of me. And anywayyou would get really tired of me being around picking on you twenty hours a day, seven days a week." Lauren started to say something.But was interrupted by Justin saying, "WILL YOU SHUT UP?""Not likely, but I will be quiet for a few minutes. Go ahead.""Okay one question at a time. I did not drop a bomb on you. If I had you would not be sitting here now would you." Justin said sarcastically then continued "The guys are all cool with it. They said that any friend of mine would be a friend of theirs. So that is not a problem. Now onto the parent's issue, you know your parents adore me. I called them a couple of weeks ago and talked to them. They said as long as I promised you would be okay, and as long as I promised to take care of you and watch you like a brother that they wouldn't care. I told them I would and they finally said if you wanted to do it that they would support you. And finally to the comment about me not wanting you around all the time yeah you are probably right about that" Justin joked and rubbed his arm after Lauren lightly hi him. "BUT, I think I can deal with it.""Hey!" Lauren said, " I hope you can deal with it.""And Chrissy is going to gone us for a few weeks in June.""GreatI will finally get to meet the GREAT Chrissy""So, is that a yes that you will go with us?" "It is a yes, I will go with you. Thanks for inviting me. I really do need to get out of Indiana for a while. And hey you never know maybe I will fall in love with a stage hand or something.""Yeah, or maybe someone else.""Hey, I don't know what you are talking about. But don't go there!""Okay, so you'll be with us from mid-May to at least mid-July. But you know you are welcome until classes start in August.""Yeah, you'll be ready to get rid of me by early June." "Not likely, I'll just be glad to have you around. I really miss thisjust sitting around talking" Justin said."Yeah, I know me too!""Justin" a voice said, "Where are you?" "In here Lance!" Justin answered."Oh hey!" Lance said walking in and seeing Justin and Lauren talking."What did you need?" Justin asked."Oh yeah, JC says were leaving in twenty minutes." Lance answered. He slowly let his eyes drift from Justin's face over to Lauren's face. Her brown hair was lying perfectly tucked behind her ears. He could see what appeared to be a small hoop in the top of her ear. 'Just like Justin.' He thought. But it looked natural on her. His eyes moved across her face and saw her deep drown eyes. They sparkled now. He could tell she was happy with her friend. Continuing down her face his eyes stopped at her lips.They were full, but she was biting on her lower lip.He was still staring at her when he heard "Lance. HEY LANCE!" "Hm, yeah sorry. What did you say?""I asked if there was anything else?" Justin said."Nope, sorry I was off in my own little world apparently!" "Yeah, that seems to be happening a lot today." Justin said looking between Lance and Lauren "We'll be out in 15 minutes. Thanks Lance!""No problem. See ya then." Lance said looking at Lauren one last time then turned to leave thinking 'Lance you can't like her she is Justin's friends. You know how protective he is of her and I really don't think that it would be cool with him to hit on her.' Lance shut the door and quietly sighed to himself. Then told the rest of the group that they would be out in a few minutes."Where are we going?" Lauren asked."Not telling! It's a surprise.""When are you going to learn that I hate surprises. Tell me please."Lauren asked trying to use her sweetest voice."Nope, but come on you need to change. Put on Khaki's and a go out shirt.I know you brought your Khakis you never go anywhere with out them.""Okay, but I still hate surprises," Lauren said walking to her room to change. Justin shook his head at his friend and laughed
