~*Chapter Seventeen*~

They sat on the bed quietly, Leesa sniffling every now and then and AJ staring solemnly out of the window. After almost an hour passed, AJ sat up straight, and took a deep breath. Leesa turned to look at him expectantly.

"OK… Leesa, you know that I love you, yeah?" he started.

"Well, yeah, you’ve kinda told me that every five minutes since last night," she said softly, looking intensely at him.

"OK then … Lees, I don’t want to sound rude, or like a prude, or anything like that, kay?" he asked her.

"Sure," she agreed, wishing he’d get to the point.

"Lees, I’m not sure I can handle getting up close and personal with you at the moment. Leesa, you’re the only person I’ve ever loved. Yeah, I had that whole thing with Marissa, but it never made any sense like the sense between us. And because you’re the only person I’ve ever loved, it makes me want this to work out between us so much. I want everything to be perfect, and I don’t want us to rush into anything. Because, God, if I lose you, I really don’t know what I’d do, you know?" AJ told her, playing with the edge of the bed spread.

She looked shyly over at AJ, and laughed quietly. He looked over at her sharply, thinking she was laughing at him. But really, she was laughing in relief.

"You have no idea how much I wanted to tell you the same thing, Xander. I’m so glad you said it, cos I never would have gotten the guts to tell you that. I’ve had this dreadful feeling that if I said what you said, that you would reject me, or something equally as horrible. But now that you said it, I wanna tell you that I share your fear. Your exact fear," Leesa told him reaching over for his hand.

"God, Lees, you don’t know how much that means to me," AJ replied, holding her hand tightly. He leant over, and they shared a quiet, soft kiss.

Three Weeks Later

"Ladies and Gentleman, please make Leesa feel welcome!"

Thunderous applause resounded over the stadium as lights burned brightly in front of Leesa’s entrance, making herself and her backdancers look like shadows. The opening notes of Midhnite began to escape from the stadiums sound system. As the first crash of the drum cymbols sounded, strobe lights illuminated Leesa and her dancers, and Leesa began to sing.

Midnite walks on the beach were always so lonely
Contemplating love was never out my mind
Now, though, it takes a new meaning, oh so slowly
Because of all the love in your soul that I find.
My prince Charming, riding up on a silver horse
You swept me off my feet and now the same I’ll never be
My inspiration for life - because of you I’ve got the source
The bright red love not often found is something I’ve now seen.

Midnite crush describes the way I feel, I’ve never felt love so real
But your-nazi ideology makes me feel like I’m falling,
the fortune cookies of our love are calling
I wanna know your way when it comes to love
I’ve never felt this before, do you feel it too?
Your love is everything to me - let me in
Break your heart? Baby I promise never to…

35 minutes later

"Thank you all so much for being a great audience! But before I let those five guys you’ve been waiting for come on stage, I’m gonna give you guys a special sneak peak at tonight’s show. Y’all know that J and I are old friends… well, tonight only, we will sing for you guys! Are y’all ready? Cos here he comes!" Leesa cried as AJ sauntered out on stage with Leesa, to the resounding sound of applause.

"Hush, y’all!" he smiled to the crowd. "Lees, tonight is special not only for the two of us, but for the rest of the world. It was on this day 7 years ago that the guys and I came into every one’s life! Ain’t ya’ll priveledged! But I digress. Lets get onto the music Lees!"

The opening strains of "When I Saw You" by Mariah Carey started, and Leesa and AJ walked over to the two stools that the props guys had set up for them. A mirror ball circling above the two glittered over the stadium, and Leesa began to sing.

Soft, heavenly eyes gazed into me,
Trascending space and time.
And I was rendered still
There were no words for me to find at all
As I stood there beside myself
I could see you and no one else

The two of them began to sing.
When I saw you
When I saw you
I could not breathe, I fell so deep
When I saw you
When I saw you
I’d never be, I’d never be the same

AJ:
Only once in a life time love rushes in
Changing you with the tide
And dawn’s ribbon of light
Bursts through the dark
Wakening you inside
And I thought it was all untrue
Until there all at once I knew.

Leesa and AJ:
When I saw you
When I saw you
I could not breathe, I fell so deep
When I saw you
When I saw you
I’d never be, I’d never be the same

Leesa:
With no beginning and without an end
AJ:
You are the one for me and it’s evident
AJ and Leesa:
And your eyes told me so
Your eyes let me know …
When I saw you
When I saw you
I could not breathe, I fell so deep
When I saw you
When I saw you
I’d never be, I’d never be the same

As the two friends finished their song, there was a pause, and suddenly the entire staduim burst into applause. AJ and Leesa looked at each other, Leesa with a shy, cheeky smile, AJ with a look of pure love that only Leesa could sense.

Leesa stood from her seat and called out to the crowd one last time. "Thank you guys! Have a great night!"

AJ and Leesa left the stage to the sound of clapping, holding hands.
