Jenn and I explored the ranch bowl for awhile. looking at all the little backrooms and such. Then we walked around the parking lot and we were headed to the volley ball court when some guys who were sitting on the little brick wall called us over. We sang "Bittersweet Symphony" and did our Verve walk for some reason and the guys joined in. T'was strange.
Well, one of them says something along the lines of "He's in Man Or Astro-man? See, he's got the shirt and the glasses" and Jenn and I are just like "Uhh...yeah.." They ask me for directions to the Olive Garden and they leave it up to us if we want to join them or not. And our immediate reaction is "No!" we have no idear who these guys are, so, y'know, it's just not something that is done. Besides, we didn't want to bail on Jennii's dad like that! SO they depart and we sit on the rock wall some more. Watch the opening band unload with I conclude is Deseo [a really umm...interesting...local band of really young guys who I believe are all still in high school]. Now, the whole Deseo thing is just REALLY funny to me 'cos my friend Ashley and her bro Aric and I have always just thought of Deseo as a bit of a joke band. And now I was getting to see them play, y'know it was just funny in it's own little way.
blar, blar...we walked around for another hour, go sit at some tables. They start playing Ben Folds 5 on the sound system, we stand up and sing and attempt to dance around. They switch CDs to 2 Skinnee J's. We sit down and attempt to look cool. Deseo climbs up on stage we go stand there and man was it funny. I couldn't understand one word the lead singer dude was singing and all their gear was Fender...everything...it was weird. Deseo leaves "yeah, yippee. great set. blar blar blar." and the M.O.A.M. clones set up...
But wait!! Why are the M.O.A.M. clones the ones that asked us to dinner!?!?!?? DOH. The set was most interesting. Lots of tubey thingys, lots of duct tape, lots and lots of STUFF. but it looked awesome nonetheless. The run away to go change. They come back lookin' all funkified and Man Or Astro-man-ey. It was really interesting. They raided our local Albertsons for all the Little Debbie's Star Crunches and snack cakes they possibly could get. They were funny as a big bunch of orange banana's! They spanked some guy with a crutch and then they ran outside to go fetch a volleyball player [the Ranch Bowl also has a volley ball court] so they could spank him too. They sounded awesome too. The set list reads:
XL-3
NAME
ESCAPE
9-VOLT
CLASSIFIED
SPECIFY
JACK
CO2
MAX. RADIAT
DESTINATION
PLANET
TV
DRAGONMEN
LO BATT
PYREX
NITROUS
And that is the set list. I personally really wanted to hear Universe City 'cos that song rules. but, OH WELL. i lived. the clones also had quite a bit of fun making fun of the real M.O.A.M. which was equally as funny. They also had a snack eating contest and made two guys stuff their faces with snack cakes and whoever lost got a spanking and pelted with snack cakes. Now that was way too much fun!
it was definetely a nifty show. We had to leave immediately afterwards so Jennii could get home and get enough sleep for school [me too!]. It was overall, the funniest show i've ever been too. I got myself a cool lookin' shirt and lotsa stickers [they were cheap!]
