Instructor Spotlight: Mr. Jesse Kiefer

JESSE KIEFER

 

Jesse Kiefer is the Head Instructor and second only to Mr. Rosenbach at the Fremont Branch Headquarters. Mr. Kiefer is a Chieftain Status Black Belt and is currently training for the coveted title of Expert Status. Jesse started with his brother Jacob Kiefer back in 1993, went through the kids classes and now heads our adult coed class. No instructor has more knowledge or insight on what Mr. Rosenbach's objectives in Fremont are than Jesse. Mr. Kiefer is also an Art Teacher for Fremont Public Schools and has attained his Master's Degree. Jesse has a Weapons Status Black Belt and over sees our weapons program along with Trent Kirchmann.

"Jesse has my highest respect and admiration as a Black Belt and Instructor," says RWTB President James Rosenbach.

Jesse is an active member of the U.S. National Martial Arts Alliance and has been inducted into the U.S.A. Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

Jesse can be found teaching and assisting in the Fremont Rosenbach Warrior Training Branch on Mondays from 4pm-7:30pm and Wednesdays from 4:45pm-7:30pm.

Why Did You Join?:"My mom signed me up as a gift. Jacob had already been involved for awhile and it looked like fun so I tried it... and liked it."

What advice would you give to beginning students who hope to someday be black belts?: "Practice! Always practice, I spent a lot of time working on the techniques at home. I still do!"

Weapon of Choice?: "Swing Sticks (with a chain!)"

What are 3 (non-martial arts) activities that you enjoy?:

  • Reading... Books, magazines, comic books, webcomics, the newspaper...
  • Computers! Used mostly to access the internet, do artwork, and play video games on.
  • Art, I am an elementary art teacher... I enjoy making art and looking at art.

What person/people in RBWI or RWTB would you consider your role model(s)? (Who influenced you?): "Definately James Rosenbach, Jeff Callahan, Darrel Denome, Quinten Nelson, Lew Verner, Lawton Verner, Ben Kruger, Jake Kiefer, J.J. Krauer, Tracey Brown, Adam Murphy, Ernest Freeman, Al Bailey, and Erik Decker... but this list could go on and on... all these people and more. If you were my instructor, or training partner at anytime you helped mold my experience, you have my admiration!" I've also seen past students become incredible instructors whom I'm proud to know and call my friends. It'd be wrong not to mention Mr. Bussey who has influenced me greatly just through his videos and watching his style evolve over the years.
