Tom Banyai and I switched nights this week, which gave me the opportunity to interview folk/blues legend Odetta.
She has influenced folks like Janis Joplin, Indigo Girls, and even Bob Dylan, who said he played electric guitar until he heard one of Odetta's first albums.
He then traded in his electric for a flat top Gibson acoustic and played nothing but Odetta songs until he began his own illustrious songwriting career.
