The Beatles' First U.S. Visit

February 1964
The Beatles touched down in New York City on February 7, 1964. Their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show took place two days later, on February 9, 1964. That night literally changed my life. As a young boy of 9 going on 10 years old, I had never really paid much attention to pop music...until then. I bought my very first record album, "Meet The Beatles", the very next day, and I was hooked. Ed Sullivan had The Beatles on his show for three consecutive weeks - February 9, 16, and 23 - and I was glued to the television for all of them! Tonight we celebrate the 40th anniversary of those historic shows.
