It was my pleasure to fill in for David Richie tonight.

Wow! What a night! Legendary drummer for The Band, Levon Helm, joined us by telephone tonight to talk about his new blues band, The Barn Burners. What a thrill! The Barn Burners will be at The Iron Horse Music Hall on Sept 3, and at The Bull Run on Sept 21. You can find links to both venues on my Live and In Person page. And an on-air surprise tonight: Mark McKay presented me with a recording of myself introducing Gillian Welch and David Rawlings to the crowd at this year's Newport Folk Festival on August 4.
In the words of Dr. John, "Such A Night"!

Unofficial Glenn TilbrookQuixotic RecordsVery special thanks to my guest tonight, Glenn Tilbrook. Glenn actually had to pull his car off to the side of a New York highway to chat with us while driving to perform in Poughkeepsie! We discussed his new solo career, new album The Incomplete Glenn Tilbrook, his current solo acoustic tour, and much more. I hope to have the interview transcribed here very soon. And thanks also to everyone who phoned or sent e-mail with positive feedback. It makes me very happy to know you enjoy listening to what I love doing.

The annual Saturday edition of Against The Grain tribute to Jerry Garcia, born August 1, 1942 ~ passed August 9, 1995. Thanks to my co-host, Mark McKay, who brought lots of great rare live recordings of Jerry and The Grateful Dead. We covered almost all of Jerry's career, from 1965 to 1995, including music by Mother McCree's Uptown Jug Champions (Jerry, Bob Weir, Pigpen), Legion of Mary (Jerry, Merl Saunders, John Kahn, Bill Vitt), Old & In The Way, Jerry and David Grisman, New Riders of The Purple Sage, CSNY, and of course the good old Grateful Dead. We closed with one of the Garcia Band's very last recordings, and a live version of one of my favorites, "Stella Blue". We were global tonight, with folks listening online including Walt in Germany, Steve in London, and Karen on "the left coast", as well as all my supporters in the Worcester area who listen in at 90.5FM. We were even the soundtrack to a party in North Smithfield, RI! "Thank you, everybody!"
