The album "Gift Of Screws"  has been mentioned since the release of Fleetwood Mac's reunion album and tour "The Dance". Lindsey himself remarked in the lead up to "Bleed To Love Her"

"This whole re-convening of these five people was kind of an organic thing, I had asked Mick to play drums on a solo album I was working on, still working on actually, as one thing lead to another and suddenly there we were in the studio saying gee this feels pretty good, isn't that weird. And that brought us to this point so we thought we do a song that we had been working on together at that time, and its called Bleed To Love Her.

These words were back in 1997 and the album was nearly as good as finished, However the release date of "Gift Of Screws" keeps being put back and the latest news is that the album if released will now be early 2002.

Lindsey's Words in Print regarding "Gift Of Screws"

Interview with Lindsey in Guitar Magazine
where the album "Gift Of Screws" is mentioned as a work in progress

Once The Dance has run its course and Fleetwood Mac completes its 40-date fall arena jaunt (it's being touted as the "20th Anniversary Rumours Tour"), Buckingham plans to finish Screws, for which he says he's reinvented his approach to songwriting, "One of the things I've been wanting to do for a while was to make one guitar - two guitars at the most - do the work of a whole track. I was also looking for a way to get the kind of energy that, say, a drum track has. So I ended up creating a tremolo-like foundation from the source tracks and got them to be very exact in their timing, which is something you really can't do if you play through an amp's tremolo setting. It creates what I call a negative space as opposed to the positive space of a snare and a kick drum. There's one track called 'Red Rover' that this all applies to, but, of course, I'm still working on it." Even with this plan of attack, Buckingham is well aware of the ever-seductive calling "to Mac, or not to Mac." "Hopefully you make the right choices," he muses. "It always feels good going through stuff you haven't heard for a while. It always sounds good initially that is, before you start tearing it apart."

Date - October 1997

Interview with Lindsey in Rolling Stone,
where his thoughts were known regarding the release of "Gift Of Screws"

So what is the status of Fleetwood Mac?

You know it's interesting, I made a joke at the show about us having worked through our own partisan politics. And I really think there is a pretty potent future for the band. In a way, Christine has really checked herself out of the situation. She sold her house in L.A. and is just residing in England. God knows what she's doing. But it kind of frees the Fleetwood Mac situation to be looked at in a fresh light and in some ways in the dynamic that Stevie and I had going before we joined the band. I think everyone's pretty up for the possibility of that and of approaching a second phase of a group much differently than just the whole epidemic of bands that were getting back together and touring and making the quick buck and then that's it. I think that would be very intriguing to try and do that. I have a whole mess of material that I've been calling a solo album. And it may still be. The other option would be to spend the next eight months or so working on material with Stevie and doing some sort of epic FM album. So I don't know. There are some options out there, and we're still looking at them. But the music I have right now, is the best that I've ever done on my own, or with Fleetwood Mac, tapping into some new areas. It becomes a little less important what you call it, the older you get. I can't tell you whether that will come out as a solo album or not. We have some options and they're all pretty good.

Is there a timeframe for the material to be produced?

I have to decide this week whether this is a solo album or not. And if you talk to the critics they'll say, put it out, what are you doing, why wouldn't you want to put it out? And if you talk to people at the record company, it depends on what your priorities are, so it's kind of scary. Not that I put solo albums out there to fail, they're for the people who want to hear that sort of thing. But the climate out there now is, God love people like Eminem , who are really doing something great. But the pop side of things, the Britney Spears sound and all of that, even though it's well-crafted, it's just a tough climate to try and think that you could really get through to a lot of people as a solo artist at age fifty. In that sense the Fleetwood Mac idea enables you to get through to a lot more people so I have to just weigh just how important or unimportant this is yet.

Interview with Stevie Nicks in Totally Adult,
where her thoughts were known regarding the release of Lindsey's new album

What have you heard about Lindsey’s next record?

“He has a double-album and he’s in the midst of making a decision whether or not he wants to turn it around and make it into a Fleetwood Mac record. He’s got way too many songs for one record, so even if he puts a record out, he’s still gonna have another 15 songs left that aren’t chopped-liver songs. So we don’t really know exactly what he’s gonna do yet.

“And you know Lindsey, he’s worse than me moving furniture—he changes stuff constantly. That artist thing, when you have to say, ‘I’m done,’ is hard for him.

“So anyway, I really don’t know exactly what he’s gonna do, but he’s very much thinking about it right now. I mean, Tango In The Night was [going to be] a solo record and he decided to flip it to a Fleetwood Mac record. And we’re all behind him—we just want him to do whatever will make him happy. I’m gonna be gone for a year, so we really can’t start this until the end of this year. So even though I did give Lindsey 17 songs, who knows? What I basically feel, Jim, is that there’s a good feeling around everything, so I’m not worried about anything.”

Date - May 2001

Information from VH-1 regarding Lindsey's Behind The Music
posted on The Penguin Website

It took me a little while to confirm this but Lindsey's BTM has been pulled from VH1's schedule at this point. The show is completely finished but there is no air date anymore. My source at VH1 said the reason is, and I quote, "the likely reason for the delay is VH1 is waiting for Lindsey to release his album." Unfortunately, of course, we have no clue when (or even 'if') that will be. I wish I had better news to report. (Thanks to Marty Adelson for posting)

Date - 14th July 2001

Adventures in Wild California

These Lindsey songs were released in June 2000 on the "Adventures in Wild California" movie

"Steal Your Heart Away" (the entire song and a different sounding version than the Best Buy CD Set from The Dance)
"Twist of Fate" (20 seconds segment)
"Go Your Own Way" (a different version than the original)

Below is the original news item taken from this website

07/06/00 - New Lindsey Songs #2
There are three Lindsey songs, under which one new song, in the new Imax theatre movie "Adventures in Wild California". Through a myriad of exciting and touching personal stories, the film reveals how the wild lifestyles of California culture are influenced by the untouched California wilderness that surrounds them. The songs which you can hear in the movie are "Go Your Own Way", "Steal Your Heart Away" and the new song (probably) called "Twisted Fate".

She Smiled Sweetly
Written by Jagger/Richards

Why do these thoughts loom so large on me?
They seem to stay, for day after day
And won't disappear, My hair's turned to grey

But she smiled sweetly
She smiled sweetly
She smiled sweetly
And says don't worry
No, no no no

Where does she hide it inside of me?
That keeps her peace most every day
And won't disappear, I’ve tried every way

But she smiled sweetly
She smiled sweetly
She smiled sweetly
And says don't worry
No, no no no

There's no use in why or when
There's no use in crying,
And so
Begin again, begin again

Well that's what she said so softly
I understood for once in my life
And feeling good most all of the time

Cause she smiled sweetly
She smiled sweetly
She smiled sweetly
And said don't worry
No, no no no
No, no no no
No, no no no
No, no no no

Blue Turns To Grey
Written by Jagger/Richards

So now that she is gone
You won't be sad for long
For maybe just an hour or just a moment
Of the day

Then blue turns to grey
And try as you may
You just don't feel good
You don't feel alright
And you know that you must find her, find her, find her

You think you'll have a ball
And you won't care at all
You'll find another girl or maybe more
To pass the time away

Then blue turns to grey
And try as you may
You just don't feel good
You just don't feel alright
And you know that you must find her, find her, find her

She's not home when you call
So you can go to all
The places where she used to go
But she has gone away

Then blue turns to grey
And try as you may
You just don't feel good
You don't feel alright
And you know that you must find her, find her, find her

Blue turns to grey (blue turns to grey)
She has gone away (blue turns to grey)
I feel so bad (blue turns to grey)
I wish you'd come on home (blue turns to grey)
I feel, I feel so down...

Gotta Get Away
Written by Jagger/Richards

Baby, the truth is out, don't deny
Baby, to think I believed all your lies
Darlin', I can't stand to see your face
You understand me now

I got to get away
(got to get away)
I gotta, gotta, gotta get away
(got to get away)

Baby, Oh, how hard I took the fall
Baby, I just tore your pictures off my wall
Darlin', this old room's closing in on me
You understand me now

I got to get away
(got to get away)
I gotta, gotta, gotta get away
(got to get away)

Baby, oh how could you take away your clothes?
Baby, don't give up this heart of gold
Oh, darlin' you just rule my social flare
You understand me now

I got to get away
(got to get away)
I gotta, gotta, gotta get away
(got to get away)

Steal Your Heart Away
Written by Lindsey Buckingham

All alone we go on day after day
All alone we suffer
Oh steal your heart away

It's the same old thing in the same old way
All alone we suffer
Oh steal your heart away

But the lie goes creepin down, down, down
But we were sleeping
Suddenly we hit the ground

So come on, lets go, lets run away
If that's all, all there is
Oh steal your heart away

Steal your heart away
Steal your heart away

But the lie goes creepin Down, down, down
But we were sleeping
Suddenly we hit the ground

So come on, lets go, lets run away
If that's all that there is
Oh steal your heart away

The lonely suffer
Steal your heart away

My Little Demon
Written by Lindsey Buckingham.

My little demon, comin'on down.
My little demon's turnin' me around.
all of my friends keep on tellin'me
that I just ain't the man I used to be.
I really don't like it...ain't nothing I can do.
I really don't like it...I'm leaving it to you.
My little demon, making me choose.
Making me an offer I can't refuse.
Hard as a rock,dry as a bone...
Big or little, know that I will take you home.
I really don't like it...ain't nothin'I can do.
I really don't like it...I'm leaving it to you.
Why try to hide it?
Fight it...fight it!
I really don't like it...ain't nothin'I can do.
I really don't like it...I'm leaving it to you.
My little demon is coming after me.
My little demon...
It's all that I can do to keep that little demon...
To keep that little demon...
Just to keep that little demon away from you!

Bleed To Love Her
Written by Lindsey Buckingham.

Once again she steals away
Then she reaches out to kiss me
And how she takes my breath away
Pretending that she won't miss me

Oohh I would bleed to love her
Bleed to love her
Oohh I would bleed to love her

And once again she calls to me
Then she vanishes in thin air
And how she takes my breath away
Pretending that she's not there

Oohh I would bleed to love her
Bleed to love her
Oohh I would bleed to love her

Somebody's got to see this through
All the world is laughing at you
Somebody's got to sacrifice
If this whole thing's going to turn out right

Oohh I would bleed to love her
Bleed to love her
Oohh I would bleed to love her

(original lyrics posted on "The Penguin", with thanks)

Shuffle Riff
Written by Lindsey Buckingham

Tarantula passes by your window
No one takes it as a sign
No one cares which way the wind blows
Someone’s got to change your mind

Every bone has been broken
Rumours of awful scenes
Every word, every language has been spoken
Someone’s got to set you free

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
I don’t want to wait for you
Oh, no, oh oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
I don’t want to wait for you

The suicide days
Suicide, suicide nights
In a wheelchair, almost blind
Someone’s going to have to pay the price
Someone’s got to change your mind

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
I don’t want to wait for you
Oh, no, oh oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
I don’t want to wait for you

Is it just a separate voice?
Did you hear what they said?
Is it only that you’re lonely?
Did you save him everyday?
Is your lie justified?
Kick your holes through your door
Did you die with him right on the floor, floor, floor

Oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
I don’t want to wait for you
Oh, no, oh oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
I don’t want to wait for you

No one knows my name
No one knows my name
Walking down the street baby now

No one knows my name
No one knows my name
Walking down the street baby now

No one knows my name
No one knows my name
Oh, we’re walking down the street baby now

No one knows my name
No one knows my name
Walking down the street baby now
Walking down the street baby now
Walking down the street baby now

Someone's Gotta Change Your Mind
Written by Lindsey Buckingham

Little children
Out in the rain
Slipping and slidin'
Covered in pain
Bodies broken
Soaked to the bone
Little children
Going on home

I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know
Someone outta make em feel fine
And so, and so, and so, and so, and so, and so
Someone's gotta change your mind

"Flyin' down Juniper
Freeway of lines
Well I'll go on home
Kiss it goodbye
Mother and father
Covered in snow
Little children
Going on home

I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know
Someone outta make em feel fine
And so, and so, and so, and so, and so, and so
Someone's gotta change your mind

I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know
Someone will make them feel fine
And so, and so, and so, and so, and so, and so
Someone's gotta change your mind, mind

Nothing to prove
You're blood is mine
I have no children
Just some design
Woven mystery
That fills up this womb
No little children
Left to go home

Deep Dense

When I do something
I try and do it right
Find myself a calling
calling in every night
Oh I did a good job of falling
Sometimes I can’t win
Everytime I try to let it go
You stumble back again

Deep Dense
Funny kind of love
When you look back
On how it really was
Kinda like a marriage
But it was broken up
Deep Dense
Funny kind of love

I had a little breakdown
In the middle of a hit
I wasn’t sure what it was
But I knew this was it
I did a good job of falling
Sometimes I can’t win
Every time I try to let it go
You stumble back again

Deep Dense
Funny kind of love
When you look back
On how it really was
Kinda like a marriage
But it was broken up
Deep Dense
Funny kind of love

Down in the valley
The valley so lost
It only took a moment
This is my goal
You did a good job running
From everything he loved best
Tell myself in whispers
This is only a test

Deep Dense
Funny kind of love
When you look back
On how it really was
Kinda like a marriage
But it was broken up
Deep Dense
Funny kind of love

Deep Dense
Funny kind of love
Deep Dense
Funny kind of love

Twist Of Fate
Written by Lindsey Buckingham

I'm a little lost
Let me find my way
I'm a little dead
Let me live
Been living in the past
Let me rise today
Led a selfish life, don't forgive

How long, how long, how long
How long we wait
Wait for the light to light our way
Wait for the right twist of fate

You were living under the reign of kings
You were living under the gun
I know it made you do a lot of things
You wish that you'd never done

How long, how long, how long
We hesitate
Wait for the light to light our way
Wait for the right twist of fate

Rah-ta-ta-ta-ta
Rah-ta-ta-ta-ta
Rah-ta-ta-ta-tahhhh
Rah-ta-ta-ta-ta
Rah-ta-ta-ta-ta
Rah-ta-ta-ta-tahhhh

Come along, lay down and talk to me
Tell me all your feeling down
It doesn't matter who we thought we were
We ain't got time for it now

How long, how long, how long
How long we wait
Wait for the light to light our way
Wait for the right twist of fate

I swear, I swear, I swear
It's not too late

Wait for the light to light our way
Wait for the right twist of fate
Wait for the light to light our way
Wait for the right twist of fate
Wait for the right twist of fate
Wait for the right twist of fate

Gift of Screws
Written by Lindsey Buckingham
From the poem by Emily Dickinson

Way down here
Everybody needs
Authority makes us bleed, bleed, bleed

Essential oils are wrung
The attar from the rose
Is not expressed by suns alone
It is the gift of screws

Way down here
Everybody frowns
Authority keeps us down, down, down

Essential oils are wrung
The attar from the rose
Is not expressed by suns alone
It is the gift of screws

To the left
To the right
Up and down
In and out
To the left
To the right
In and out
Up and down
In and out
And around
That's right
That's right baby!

The Singer Not The Song
Written by Jagger/Richards

Everywhere you want I always go
I always give in because, babe, you know
You just say so
But it gives me that feeling inside
That I know must be right
It's the singer not the song

It's not the way you give in willingly
Others do it without thrilling me
Giving me
That same old feeling inside
That I know I must be right
It's the singer not the song

The same old places and the same old songs
We've been going there for much too long
There's something wrong
And it gives me that feeling inside
That I know I must be right
That's the singer not the song
It's the singer not the song
It's the singer not the song
It's the singer not the song

Come
Written by Lindsey Buckingham

Think of me, sweet darlin'
When everything is going bad
Think of me, sweet darlin'
Every time you're feeling sad
Think of me, sweet darlin'
Every time you don't come

Can you feel the fever?

Think of me, sweet darlin'
Every time things get rough
Think of me, sweet darlin'
When the best just isn't enough
Think of me, sweet darlin'
Every time you don't come

Can you feel the fever?

'Cause nobody else is doing it, no
And nobody else is doing it, no
Where's the harmony?
Where's the humanity?

Love, it was a little too scarce
Hey, hey, oh yeah

I said I was going before it got away
She's been here a while
Living in the guest room
I guess she goes in style
I said I was going before it got away
But I just can't let her go
Can you feel the fever?

Now I lay me down to sleep in this enemy bed
Tomorrow morning I will wake up
Hurting from the things we said
One thing leads to another
But I guess you know about that

Can you feel the fever?

Cause nobody else is doing it, no
And nobody else is doing it, no
Where's the harmony ?
Where's the humanity?
Love, it was a little too scarce
Hey, hey, oh, yeah

'Cause nobody else is doing it, yeah No,
nobody else is doing it,
doing it, are they now?
Where's the harmony?
Where's the new harmony?
Love, it was a little too scarce
Nobody's playing, are they?
Take it, take it!

Think of me sweet darlin’
Every time you don’t come

Try For The Sun
Written by D. Leitch;
Adapted by Lindsey Buckingham

We huddled in the derelict building
My gypsy girl and I
We made our bed together
With the rain dropping tears in our eyes

And who would be the one
To say it was no good what we done?
I dare anyone to say, anyone to say we were too young
We were only trying for the sun

Mirror, mirror in the sky
Won’t you look what’s happening below
No one knows what’s going on
Won’t you give us a sign where to go?

And who would be the one
To say it was no good what we done?
I dare anyone to say, anyone to say we were too young
We were only trying for the sun

And who would be the one
To say it was no good what we done?
I dare anyone to say, anyone to say we were too young
We were only trying for the sun

We were only trying for the sun
We were only trying for the sun

Mirror, mirror in the sky
Won’t you look what’s happening below
Nobody knows what’s going on
Won’t you give us a sign where to go?

Murrow
Written by Lindsey Buckingham

All the sainted sinners
They pay handsomely
Eventually they make the weapons
And they run the prisons
And they sell the justice
'Cause being guilty is just good business
And we’re standing out on the borderline
Ain’t no one going to stop it now

Murrow’s turnin’ over in his grave
Murrow’s turnin’ over in his grave
Murrow’s turnin’ over in his grave
Murrow’s turnin’ over in his grave

Murrow’s turnin’ over in his grave
Murrow’s turnin’ over in his grave
Murrow’s turnin’ over in his grave
Murrow’s turnin’ over in his grave

Half-closed eyes
And the country’s dead
Would you feel the ooze as your brain drains out
From the pneumatic drills and sharpened knives?
Blood in the sky
Are you dead or alive?
Oh, the restless people and the bitter green
Well, it fakes this gold, makes the spirit mean

Murrow’s turnin’ over in his grave
Murrow’s turnin’ over in his grave
Murrow’s turnin’ over in his grave
Murrow’s turnin’ over in his grave

Murrow’s turnin’ over in his grave
Murrow’s turnin’ over in his grave
Murrow’s turnin’ over in his grave
Murrow’s turnin’ over in his grave

Red Rover
Written by Lindsey Buckingham

Why do you come around?
So very much
You know it just brings you down
It’s just something you can touch

You don’t belong here
I guess you never did
Whisper "Look up" in your ear
You just keep it so well hid

Anyone at all
Could see what was missin’
Could see you were dyin’
But no one was cryin’

And I did hear what you said
Now I can go home
All my days are blue
All my days are bright

Red Rover, Red Rover, Red Rover
We come, we come, we come, we come
To take you over
Take you over
Red rover
Take you over

One of the quiet ones
One of the few
Now fall down onto your knees
Show us all what you can do

We came around here
To see if you were well
And there’s nothing for you to fear
In Heaven or in Hell

Anyone at all
Could see what was missin’
Could see you were dyin’
But no one was cryin’

And I did hear what you said
Now time to drive home
All my days are blue
All my days are bright

Red Rover, Red Rover, Red Rover
We come, we come, we come, we come
To take you over Take you over
Red rover
Take you over
Red rover
Take you over
Red rover
Take you over

Down On Rodeo
Written by Lindsey Buckingham

After the music ended
There was nowhere to go but down
Faces of glass
all hung in the past
They only came here to drown

We were long, long gone
Nowhere else to go
 Long gone, far gone

Down on Rodeo

We never took quite enough chances
We never had quite enough time
I did about a thousand dances
But nothing would change your mind

You were long, long gone
Putting on your show
Long gone, far gone
Down on Rodeo

When it’s gone….when it’s gone….when it's gone...
It ain’t never, ain’t never coming back
Gone….gone…when it’s gone….when it’s gone
Ain’t never, never, never coming back

Well, that's how the story goes sometimes
The price is a little too much
The two little children on Beverly Hills
We looked, but we couldn't touch

We were long, long gone
Looking in the window
 Long gone, far gone
Down on Rodeo
Down on Rodeo
Down on Rodeo

Do you hear me, hey?
Do you hear me, hey?

Miranda

At the end of the day
The end of the light
She keeps the remains of all of her foes
Miranda is dying with all of her might
She never comes
She always goes

She sticks the camera right into her arm
Anything to forget what the trouble's about
It causes her pain That's part of the charm
She's down for the count and finally out

Miranda is taking the stars down
It’s something to call her own
By the light, there still goes Miranda
And Miranda is always alone

She sees her face in another magazine
And the walls all close in as the fancy takes flight
Can't stand to be loved
But she loves to be seen
She slips down headlong into the night

Miranda is taking the stars down
It’s something to call her own
By the light, there still goes Miranda
And Miranda is always alone

And then all at once the sun starts to rise
She sees her father holding her down
All the daylight is poison to her eyes
She slips down the shade and lets herself drown

Miranda is taking the stars down
It’s something to call her own
By the light, there still goes Miranda
And Miranda is always alone

The lights shot down in the arena
Across the safety zone
Loneliness follows Miranda

Miranda is always alone
Miranda is always alone
Miranda is always alone

Say Goodbye

So he faces the day
Thinking all the days of home
And price he has paid
For love he couldn't halt

I let it slip away
Every time I do
It was so long ago
Yeah
Still I often think of you

I fall down I get up
And I've always had to fight
Everything that was wrong
For the things that were right

I let it slip away
Now I know what to do
Do you think about me
Yeah
Now I say goodbye to you

It's so hard to find a way
When the lies come around
Still it happens everyday
So don't let it get you down

Just a time within a time
Just a scheme within a scheme
A little world within a world
It's a dream, just a dream

Now I've finally found my way
Now I know just what to do
Won't to say goodbye to me
Yeah
Now I say goodbye to you

Now I best be on my way
Before the night turns blue

Won't to say goodbye to me
Yeah
Now I say goodbye to you

Won't to say goodbye to me
Yeah
Now I say goodbye to you

Given Thing

Oh, my love
Someday
Everyone who's happening
Won't be happening to stay

Oh, darling
Given time
Everything that seems alright
Will be nothing down the line
Given time
I'll miss something
Oh, time It's a given thing

Oh, my love
Someday
Everyone who's happening
Won't be happening to stay

Oh, darling
Given time
Everything that seems alright
Will be nothing down the line
Given time
I'll miss something
Oh, time It's a given thing

Some will find
Left behind
Someone blind
Left behind
Some will cry

Down the line
Lately I'm Down the line
Given time
Down the line Oh, time,
yeah,

oh It's a given thing
It's a given thing
It's a given thing

If any more information becomes available, please forward to me at nodmod@yahoo.com and I will post it on this page

I hope that Lindsey, Lindsey's management or Lindsey's record company  (whoever is holding up the release) will release "Gift Of Screws" as soon as possible.

Ten Years between solo albums is too long to wait,
and please do not submerge the album into the new alleged Fleetwood Mac studio album in 2002.

We the fans have waited long enough !!!!!
