His biggest influence has been Steve Burry. Rob listens to a lot of Ani DiFranco. She’d still rule even if Rob didnt like her!
Wrote most of his songs while sitting on exit ramps. Rob says he pretty much writes everything then brings it to the band. usually walks in parks is where he does a lot of it.
Rob used to write songs in high school, "to attract girls", but they were so "cheesy" i.e. "I love you/don'tcha know/oh baby please don't go. ---at least that's how *he* described them.
Rob wants to write a song," Is it Bad Because I Want to Sleep With Sarah McLachlan?" He thinks Sarah is very soft and pretty.
Rob turned his family garage into a music studio.

As a teenager Rob was in cover bands and admits to having played Richard Marx covers. They could also play Depeche Mode's "Blasphemous Rumours," but the crowds weren't digging that. He remembers quitting high school and getting a G.E.D. because he had a chance to play at a Sheraton in Vero Beach [Fla.]. At the time, that was huge: "Dude, we're playing a fuckin' Sheraton!" The name of that band was "Something really bad - either Bondage or Rendezvous."
