"I can't remember when I was 16,making my own striped,total new-wave,black and white stretch pants," Gwen's recalled."And I wore them to a place where the band was going to play and all these punker girls made fun of me!"Talk about uncool-and cruel!
Worse yet,poor Gwen didn't even have a good guy shoulder to cry on when she got dissed for her fab fashion sense back in those days.
"No boys liked me in high school because I was chubby,"the California native's admitted.
Sounds like Gwen's teen years were pretty tough.But do you think the blond bombshell let her life become a tragic kingdom?No way!While some clueless types may not have dug her homemade fashions,Gwen didn't even think of changing her creative ways.In fact,when she has time,she still likes to put together cool outfits -and now she sports them on tour."I like to look special on stage,"Gwen's said."So my friend and I design my clothes.We even stud my bras with rhinestones!"
And as for the boy department,Gwen's doing just fine nowadays,thank you.Bush leader singer Gavin Rossdale thinks Gwen's perfect no matter what she weighs,and we bet all those guys who overlooked Gwen in high school (and all the girls who teased her) are feeling pretty silly now.Looks like success really is the best revenge-just ask Gwen!
