Gary's Duck Hunts

Hi, my name is Gary Loper and this page is dedicated to providing you with most of the specific information about hunting ducks with me here in North Dakota

Hunting location- I primarily hunt for ducks in southern Ward, Mountrail, McHenry counties and occasionally in northern Sheridan county.
Season dates- Tentatively, for the fall of 2002 the duck season openerd should be 28 Sep
Best time for success- Any time before the potholes start to freeze up. The first two weeks of October is better than the last two.
How many birds can a person shoot? The limits for 2001 were 6/day with no more than 5 mallards(only 2 hens). The limits should be the same for 2002.
Suggested gun/ammo for ducks- Any gun capable of shooting #1 - 4 steel shot or similiar non-toxic shot.
Hunting methods used for ducks- I primarily hunt for ducks in conjunction with my field goose hunts. If a field is heavily used by geese there normally is enough ducks to keep you busy. If you want to ignore the geese and have just a morning duck hunt, we can set several dozen decoys in a local pothole or field and enjoy a morning of duck hunting.
