Chaos Age Basics

Back to Chaos Age

So just what is the Chaos Age, anyway?

This department will try to address this question in order to clear up any confusion.
In a nutshell (if that's possible):
- It is the first of five ages. The Chaos Age does not begin until at least the late third millenium AD (around the year 2800, maybe?). I am not specific with Terran dates but leave it up to your imagination.
- It occurs not on Earth (Terra), but on the first two planets to be inhabited by mankind outside our solar system, known collectively as Beta Asulon: the hospitable, oxygen-rich Vanstarl and the larger, colder, not-so-nice planet of Sanzataria. In fact, Earth does not play any significant role in the affairs of Beta Asulon until the fourth age.
- The Chaos Wars are sporadic conflicts between the Federal Forces (the good guys) and the New Order (the bad guys).

-- THE FEDERAL FORCES: These are the peacekeeping forces of the UIN (United Interplanetary Nations), the expanded descendant of the UN. The FF is trying to sustain the success seen by capitalism in the early years of Vanstarl.
-- THE NEW ORDER: This is the organization of a massive classist revolution occurring on Vanstarl (for more details on classism, see the New Order department). Its primary motives are controlled economy and rights of self-indulgences. It has few secure holdings on Vanstarl at the start of the war, but gains underground support from citizens of capitalist nations.

- I try to keep the technologies of this age within "believable" boundaries. The long journey from Earth and the struggle to establish a society produced a significant setback in the development of Vanstrian sciences in relation to those of Earth.
- If you visit the Archives, you will see a collection of drawings I have made, most of which depict vehicles or weapons used during the Chaos Wars.
- A specific character to focus on in this Age is Jack McGrann, a private in the FF and an agent of the Covert Operations Reserves (CORE). Also, his CORE squad, codenamed Earthwing, plays a large role in this storyline. For a few pictures of these characters, visit the Archives.
- AN OVERVIEW OF THE CHAOS WAR:

- The war begins with a wild outbreak of New Order and classist enthusiasm. The ironically named Utopia, the only classist power on Vanstarl, rapidly builds a massive force with the goal of conquering the new planet. It doesn't take long before Arkain, head of the New Order, takes the seat of the supreme ruler of Utopia (the Phoenixer). At first, the Order does well in their battle against the Federal Forces. However, they make one serious error: they capture, torture, and kill the UIN president on Vanstarl, Vincent Strazalt. Strazalt was an intelligent diplomat, but when it came to war, he was just too timid. The tough, war-hardened William Corte takes his place, and brings with him an iron command that sparks a fire in the hearts of his fighting men. Faced with this new opponent who mirrors his own cunning with warfare, Arkain retreats to Cailion as his armies are slowly overwhelmed. There he formulates a final strategy, and sets a trap for the approaching Federal armies.

- One could say that Cailion is the capitol of the New Order, or perhaps the main base for Arkain's forces. It is truly a structure never before seen by mankind: it resembles a massive, pentagonal pyramid at first glance. However, most of the construction is underground. It is located on the island of Matesia, a territory of Utopia. An underground Labrynth extends from Cailion to various points in Matesia and the Utopian mainland.
