Chapter 27

Sarah sat on her bed analyzing the letter. Debating whether or not to reply back to it. She was about to throw it away but just couldn’t. She read it again . . .

Dear Sarah,

I’m not really sure how to start this letter.
So I’m just going to start. I know you
probably are confused. So all I ask is
that you come so we can work this out.
And decide if you want to pursue
anything. Here are 7 tickets and passes
to the Detroit concert in about a week.
I know it’s going to take some money
so here is $5,000 to help bring 6 of
your friends and you.

Joey

She just sat there holding the money in cash. She could give some of the tickets and passes to her friends. The thing that bothered her is Micky would be there. It was such a close call with her when she came over. She told everyone her boyfriend was seriously hurt from an accident and she came over here because Sarah knew him. Her friends bought it and Micky sort of knew why she kept it vague. She stayed there for about an hour before Sarah was able to get rid of her. She felt bad, but Micky brought too much pain and she didn’t want to deal with that. To see her crying over her “boyfriend” pissed Sarah off to the umpteenth degree. Sarah started to make decisions on which of her friends she would pick to come with her to the concert. She knew it would be a big waste of tickets for them not to come. She was hoping to hide this from her friends for much longer, but she knew that in about a week they were going to find out the truth. She turned off the light next to her and slumped back into her pillow. She started to sweat for no apparent reason and her heart started to beat faster. She had taken her anti-rejection medication and always had kept up with it. It stopped when she sat up. She talked to herself out loud a little, “calm down Sarah, everything will work out ok. You’re freaking yourself out so badly you’re freaking your heart out too.” After she was fine again she went back to sleep and decided to let her friends know of this concert.

Hanson reached Detroit Metro airport and got out of the plane. Because of this whole incident the press hounded them but they were given room. They had a few interviews in this city and then they were off to New York in two days. They were peeling from their burns and Ike’s blisters were healing. They were from the sunburn but their coughs were from the smoke they breathed in. Those wouldn’t last too much longer and they were grateful because it started to sound like they were coughing up their kidneys. Their bodyguards and parents helped them to their limo and they got in on their way to stay at the Hyatt. They were sick and tired of being known as “heroes” and hoped after the interviews people would get sick of hearing about this and they would finally be known for what they wanted to be known for, their music.

Sarah invited all the girls over to her house. All 8 of them showed up and they all went to the living room where she asked them to go. After the last one showed up she started. “You guys, I don’t want any of you to say a word until I’m finished telling you this. After that you can ask me whatever you want.” Her friends nodded and she began pulling out the tickets and passes. “Right here I’m holding 7 front row tickets to N’sync and 7 passes to hang with them backstage. The concert is in Detroit, it’s at the Auburn Hills Palace. Now for those of you now thinking about the money issue, I have plenty, $5,000 to be exact. They gave it to me. They would like to see me and entertain some of you as well. While you guys have fun backstage I’m going to be working some things out. I would rather not get into it until it is worked out. This money will pay for getting there, hotel, and food. I’m sure it’s more then enough. Whatever is left over we can use to shop our way through Michigan. I know some of you won’t be able to come because of conflicting schedules and I have 6, not 8 tickets and passes. Now that I’m done talking tell me which one of you want to go, which want or have to stay here, and go ahead and bombard me with questions. All of her friends were sitting there in shock. “Um, how do you know them?” “Through Hanson.” All of their eyes widened, “and how do you know Hanson?” Asked another friend. “Because Ike and I were engaged for a little bit.” Now all of her friends began talking at once back and forth to each other. Kendall, Beth, and Gina stood up, “we’re going, we are just going to have to talk it over with our parents. Do you mind if we each take a ticket and pass to show them to prove it?” Sarah each gave them one. “DON’T LOSE THESE.” Sarah said to them threateningly. They were taken aback, “no problem.” And each of them put them in their purses. Laura looked at her, “same here.” She gave her one of each also. Wendy shook her head, “there is no way I can go, I have to be back here for the Science fair. Can you guys get me a picture and autograph?” They agreed and Wendy left.” Sheila looked around and then at Sarah, “I can’t go either, my parents will NOT let me miss school especially for this.” They empathetically agreed and she left. “Well Kathy looks like you and Mercedes are the other ones coming.” She handed them theirs and they just sat there. Kathy spoke up, “I’m so sorry about the cracks I made about both of them to you.” “It’s ok, really, I don’t expect you guys to like the same things I do.” All of those called their parents explaining everything and out of all of their shock their parents said that’s fine but wanted to know more info when the girls got home. They made the plane arrangements. It cost around $1000. They drained some of the money. “What hotel are we going to stay at?” Sarah looked at them, “where do you want to stay?” “Why don’t we stay at the same one as them?” “Because I don’t know which one they are staying at.” “Oh, well, how about that hotel were Tom Arnold got married at.” They laughed and Beth turned red. Sarah shrugged, “I guess we could. What’s it called?” Kendall spoke up, “the Hyatt.” Everyone looked at Kendall. She turned red, “what?” They shook their heads and mumbling “nothing.” Sarah called the operator for the number and they proceeded to make the arrangements. They decided to stay there for 5 days. They decided on three rooms, two girls per room. That cost them about $1,500. She hung up, “ok guys, we shop the last day. We have $2,500 to spend on food, and I guess we could pick up a few articles of clothing before the concert.” They all talked about it. They were to pack in two days, put their luggage in Sarah and Beth’s car and go to the airport and have 1 hour to check in and board the plane.

”Why did you feel the need to do what you did? And who though of the idea?” The reporter asked. The interview with Hanson was running over and they were afraid of missing their flight. Taylor spoke up, “Zac did, and I’m glad he finally did something without thinking.” The reporter chuckled, “really though, Zac why don’t you answer.” Taylor looked over at him. Zac was slightly amazed his brother actually for the first time isn’t interrupting him? “Well, I did it first of all because I wanted to get out of there. But the minute the other two followed me I realized that we had to get everybody out of the building.” That’s when their publicist stopped the questions. “I’m sorry but we have to make a photo shoot. Thank you for coming and for your time.” The guys ran into the back area. “We’re missing our flight you know.” “Oh, we aren’t going for another week.” They looked at him, “why not?” “Because some more reporters in the Chicago area are driving up here so you guys can rest and they want to do more interviews. They all groaned. “Well, since it’s so late let’s go back to the hotel.” They dragged their feet walking to the van and they hopped in. Groaning and complaining all the way to the hotel they dragged themselves into the hotel lobby. They looked around, “holy who has all this luggage?” Taylor said looking at all the duffel bags. Taylor looked at the desk where there were 7 girls. “Nice ratio.” He grinned and Ike noticed too. “Come on guys, you have to rest.” The said they would be up in a couple of minutes but were going to get something in the vending machines. “Let’s just order room service?” Their father offered. “No, what’s the point? It’s a waste of time, don’t worry!” Their father just turned around to go in the elevator. They walked over to the machine. “What are you guys getting?” Zac asked pulling out a dollar and looking at the selection. “Nothing.” Zac looked at his brothers. “You just told Dad you were getting something, what are you guys getting?” “Dates.” They said eyes the girls at the counter. Zac rolled his eyes, “good luck, considering they probably aren’t desperate.” Ike and Taylor looked at him and just stared him down. He pressed his selection and grabbed it, “what? We all know your both of your hobbies are being locked in the bathroom with a Victoria Secret’s catalogue.” He laughed and ran, “GET HIM!” And both of them ran after him. “NO! EVIL!” Zac screamed running and tripping over the edge of the rug in the lobby and making him go sprawling on the floor. He tried to get back up and run but it was too late. Ike grabbed the back of his shirt. Now this sudden stop caused the still running full force Taylor to slam into both brothers knocking all three of them to the ground. “Good God, you retards broke something.” Zac cried out. Now, they wanted the girl’s attention and they most certainly got it.

Sarah and her friends turned around staring at three blond head’s and their bodies lying on the ground. “Oh my God.” Was all Sarah could say. What where they doing here? And what did they just do? Gina just stared, “Sarah, is that who I think that is?” Sarah nodded, “Sheila, Mercedes, come on and help them up.” The others got keys to their rooms. Sheila helped Taylor, Sarah Ike, and Mercedes helped Zac. “Are you ok?” Taylor looked up, “yes, thanks.” Taylor turned the usual shade of red. Sheila started cracking up “you really do turn red!” She started laughing and he turned even redder then he did before. Zac turned over from his stomach to his back and groaned loudly. Then in his squeaky, voice changing sound, “I’m DYING and it’s all their fault!” Mercedes cracked up and helped him up. He stood up wobbling a little but regained his balance. In his same voice he looked over at his brothers, “I’m suing!” Mercedes laughed and kissed him on the cheek. “You are so cute!” Zac grinned and wiggled his eyebrows. Sarah just started laughing. She grabbed Ike’s hand and helped him up. “Thanks.” He said brushed himself off and looked at Sarah. “Oh my God, Sarah.” Everyone looked at him and her. “Hello Isaac.” She turned away from him, “let’s grab our bags guys.” Everyone followed her. Mercedes and Sheila waved and then walked over to their bags and picked them up. They began walking to the elevator and the Hanson’s stood there. “I can’t believe she’s here, and why?” Taylor said in awe. “She certainly has nice friends.” Zac said grinning still.

Sarah shared a room with Kendall. “Sarah, what was up with that?” “What do you mean?” Sarah asked unpacking some things. “What was up in the lobby? For knowing them you seems to be rather cold to them? Why?” Sarah sat on the bed and put her thumb and first finger to her temples. “Ok, to make a long story short Ike and I were engaged. I was having some doubts to begin with but thought I owe it to him.” “For what?” Sarah slowly undid part of the buttons of her shirt. “OK! Let’s NOT go there.” She laughed, “no, look.” Kendall gasped, “oh my gosh. What happened?” “I needed a heart transplant. They visited me in the hospital when I was sick and came almost every day when they could. They paid for the hospital bills and everything after they became famous because they could begin to afford it unlike my family.” “No wonder.” Kendall gasped. “Anyway, when I came with them to go to the MTV awards I ran into Nick Carter and Justin Timberlake. You know Backstreet Boys and Nsync. Basically both of them made some bet to find out how far they could each get with me. Well, Ike was upset about the way things had gone in front of them earlier and we started fighting. I was angry with him for being so stubborn. I know now it was my entire fault, and considering all of my past I finally wanted to have some fun. So in some demented way I thought that me going behind his back would get even with him. I fooled around with Nick Carter behind his back. I wasn’t aware of their little bet at this time. Ike caught me and we broke up our engagement. Now he’s dating Micky.” Sarah almost started crying. Kendall sat down sucking this all in. “Woah.” Was all that she could choke out at the moment. Sarah stood up, “I’m going to go get something to eat in the vending machine and later we’ll go out to get something more to eat.” Kendall nodded and started to unpack some of her things and was going to go tell the others some of the story so they would know. She gave Kendall the key and said she was going to need her to open it later. Sarah grabbed a couple of dollars of some of the change from the cab ride. She walked down the hall and realized she wanted to hungry. She looked around and saw a sign for the pool. She went down some floors and walked to the pool. She sat down on one of the chairs and wept. After a couple of minutes she started to play with the ornament on her necklace. She stood up to walk and stare out the window. Almost instantly she was gasping for air and her heart was shooting out pains. She dropped to her knees and looked around for help grabbing her chest. She looked around and saw the arcade next to the pool. No one was there. Tears started coming out of her eyes and she couldn’t get enough air to cry out for help. This was scaring her. She collapsed to the ground trying to breathe. And fast as it came on it left. She didn’t know what was going on. She would go to the doctor’s after she got back home to get this taken care of.
