The best comedies that I have found that are really good because they explore life in a very unique, funny way are Monty Python, Red Dwarf and George Carlin.
Monty Python in short shows a very strange and very funny comedy group that besides fun old lunacy shows very interesting views on the world that surounds you.
Red Dwarf is the third longest running science fiction series on the air. It examines science, philosophy, religion and the human condiditon in a very funny way.

George Carlin is an engenious former cocaine addict comidian who examines eavery aspect of life in an unbelivably funny and intelagent manner. I have seen his act on TMN and bought his book "Brain Droppings" and in my opinion he is a comedic genious.
