STARS AND STATESThere is no legal or official designation of stars in the Flag as representing certain states. However, one can presume the first state admitted to the Union to be represented by the star in the upper left-hand corner and the latest state admitted to be the star in the lower right-hand corner. Then reading across from left to right, row by row, top to bottom, the order would be as follows:
