The Legend of Luke

Most of the Legend of Luke occurs a few seasons after Mossflower, but the actual Legend of Luke occurs a few seasons before Mossflower. The story is based upon the time after Mossflower but 1/3 of it is the legend as told by the elderly warriors. The story begins as Redwall is being built; actually, it is almost finished. Redwall is attracting many creatures to it including a young hogmaid from the north called Trimp the Rover. Martin the Warrior, who is now in his middle seasons, is mystified by a ballad sung by Trimp about a Warrior called Luke. That Luke in the ballad is actually Luke the Warrior, Martin's father! Martin then sets off on a journey, with his friends Gonff, and Dinny the mole, to the north to learn about what happened to his family. The journey takes many days but when they are in the north, they discover a very odd shipwreck. Inside of the ship live three elderly warriors that had once known Martin's father. They told them the story. Luke's tribe had been attacked by pirates during a large celebration and most were killed. But Luke and many other tribe members were not there at the time. When Luke arrived back at his home, only to find it to be destroyed and almost everyone including his wife was murdered, Luke went crazy and he soon after set off to seek revenge upon the pirates.
