Martin the Warrior
The story begins with Martin being held as a slave in the fortress Marshank, under the stoat Badrang and his army. One day Martin sees one of Badrang’s soldiers beating an elderly squirrel. Seeing this Martin goes crazy and attacks the soldier. Other soldiers, hearing his cries for help, quickly capture Martin and have him brought to Badrang, who questions him and then has him brought to the highest point in Marshank and tie him to a wooden pole to be eaten by the birds. Soon Martin becomes feverish and screams about how Badrang killed his grandmother, takes him as a child, and also takes the sword that Martins father had given him. A young female mouse named Rose and her friend, Grumm the mole, hear him, and help him out. Then Rose asks Martin if there is a slave called Brome in Marshank. Brome is Rose's younger brother and when he was out wandering he as captured by Badrang. Little do they know that Brome is being held in a prison pit at the bottom of Marshank...
