This page is for any and all the Recovery CD passwords I take the time to find on the net or on my own.

While this probably isn't very useful to most people, I find that it's really important to know a way around the "normal" procedures.

One reason to have the passwords is if you happen to change your hard drive. That's what I did. As soon as I got the drive ready to be "restored" with the CD, I started thinking about how it knew to ONLY restore the hard drive for the original computer. After it became apparent that it wouldn't cooperate, I snuck in to the availible files and tried my hand at some "Batch file sabotoge"...which didn't work at first. It took 2 days and the better part of both of it's nights to figure out a way to get my new hard drive set up with Windows.

You may wonder why I'm rambling on like this.
The reason is: I don't want to get into trouble.
I want to make sure everyone understands what my reasons are for posting this information, and that I think they are acceptable.

And now for the passwords I have:

Toshiba 445CDX "Recovery CD" .ZIP Passwords:
445w95a.zip = 2873 (CD)
445w95b.zip = 2876 (CD)
445fix.zip = 2876 (CD)
445demo.zip = 3183 (CD)(You don't need to unzip this one. It's just the display model demo.)

recover.zip = 3771 (FLOPPY)(This is only here for those who are curious.)

I have successfully restored my hard drive with this set of passwords.
You will have to go to c:\erd and type erd to set up the root directory boot system.(msdos.sys, io.sys, config.sys, etc.)
That's all I'm saying about the restore procedure.
It's far too complicated for me to risk getting into trouble over faulty instructios.

HP Pavilion 4404/8590C "System Recover CD" Password:
all .paq files = pandora

.paq files are just .ZIP file with a different ending.
Get pkunzip for DOS to unzip them. Make sure to "xcopy" the CD to an unused
directory on the hard drive and "attrib *.paq -s -h -r" in that directory.
Another option might be to open them with "edit" and save them to a different directory.
Maybe even find a program that can copy hidden/system files.

.paq file list:
a.paq
b.paq
c.paq
cabs.paq
d.paq
