Winsock Collection
This page contains all of the WinSock.dll files I've managed to find.
The reason I'm even making this page is that my internet connection in Windows 98 cuts off when it's been running for 4 hours. Replacing the DLL with another version allowed me to run for 5 hours, but I didn't make a backup of the DLL, and it got replaced with the original, which didn't work as well as the other one I had. When I find which of these DLLs gives me 5 hours again, I'll add that information here.
These are only for Windows 95(W95) and Windows 98(W98) for the moment. Use 'Incompatible' versions at your own risk, but make sure you back up any existing "winsock.dll" before attempting a replacement.
These can be extracted from other Windows updating .EXE files, like:
ws2setup.exe/W95ws2setup.exe
wsockupd.exe/W95wsockupd.exe(UPD970418R1, and UPD970624R1)
You just need to run it from a command line, and include -c at the end, and you can bypass OS checking, and extract all the files to the directory you choose. I find it a bit odd that it's so hard to find any WinSock.dll files when Wsock32.dll files are so abundant in comparison...
