I found a few more features in NSIS, so I whipped up a program to fix Getright:
Getright Registry Value Remover
This file fixes getright 4.5/4.5a/4.5b a safer way than the .REG files. It REMOVES the tags used to tell Getright it was pirated, and saves any existing password to:
'C:\!get_cde.txt'.
It will remove any existing Getright code you have, so when it tells you to write the code down, go ahead and write it down.
Instructions for the following two files:
1.Download the following file.
2.Run it like a program.
3.Press "OK" when it says the information has been loaded into the registry.
You're now free to enter a different registration code into getright.
My version of the "Getright pirate status remover"
This file removes some of the incriminating values from the "FileQueue" directory.
I just took them out, and because it still allows you to enter a different code
i figure the other values are there to say "you pirated, here's the evidence".
Original Getright "Pirate status remover" file
I found this while searching for more pages with this information.
It was on getright's server, so I guess this is the file they point you to
after you've purchased your registration code.
These are instructions on how to use REGEDIT to do what the above files can.
Extended Instructions, for those who can't use a computer very well:
1. Close Getright(Right-click the tray icon, and click 'X Close GetRight')
2. Click Start-Run, and type 'regedit'.
3. Press the [+] next to the 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER' tab, or keyboard down to it and press Right.(This works for most of the folders, so I'll just call it 'Opening' the folder.)
4. Open 'Software'(if you're keyboarding to these, you can press the first letter on the name)
5. Open 'HeadLight'
6. Open 'GetRight'
7. Click on, or keyboard to 'Config'. Many things will appear in the Right 'Window Pane', like:
| Name_________________| Data
(Default)_______________(Value not set)
'Ads'__________________0x00000000 (0)
'AltTrayStatusColor'______0x00000000 (0)
8. Go the the end of the list by moving the Scroll Button to the bottom of the Scroll Bar.
9. Click 'Window00' in the 'Name' Column.
10. Click the 'Edit' command near the top-left corner of the window, next to 'Registry', or press the 'Alt' key and the 'E' key at the same time.
11. Click 'Delete' or keyboard down to 'Delete', and press Enter.
12. Click on 'Yes' or press Enter
13. In the 'Window Pane' that has the folders, and move the vertical 'Scroll Button' to the top of the pane, and move the bottom 'Scroll Button' to the left-most side of the horizontal scroll bar.
14. Click the [-] button next to 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER'.
15. Click 'Edit', then find, or press 'Ctrl' and F at the same time.
16. Copy what's between the ''s and paste it to the search bar, or type it in, while excluding the ''s:
'{F853B2C7-'
17. You should be brought to {F853B2C7-386A-11D3-A860-006097897A00}, and the right 'Window Pane' should have:
| Name_____________| Data
(Default)___________(Value not set)
'DT'______________'##/##/## ##:##:##'
'DT2'_____________'##/##/## ##:##:##'
'ID'_______________0x00000001
If it doesn't, open the 'Edit' command again and click 'Find Again', or press the 'F3' button until it shows the example.
18. Delete the 'ID' tag.
19. Quit Regedit by going 'Registry'-Exit, or press 'Alt', Down, Up, Enter.
20. Start GetRight, right-click the tray icon, go to 'Options', then 'Tools'.
21. Click the top option, 'General'. If the 'Enter Code' button is enabled, you were successful. Now, go beat the crap out of the guy who put a pirated code into your copy of getright.
Simplified instructions, for those who know how to use a computer and the registry editor:
DO NOT USE these instructions if you are not experienced with either a computer or the registry editor.
1. Close the getright tray icon.
2. In Regedit, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HeadLight\Getright\Config\ and delete the 'Window00' DWORD.
3. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{F853B2C7-386A-11D3-A860-006097897A00}\ and delete the 'ID' DWORD
4. Quit Regedit and start getright back up.
That wasn't hard, was it? Just think if you had to find those tiny little changes yourself? It POed me so bad I was ready to post instructions on making your own getright registration codes...but that wouldn't help me or getright's creators any. Pay 'em. They deserve it, even if they do like to make super-complicated anti-piracy systems.
