There are many different types of surface treatments:

Treatments

  •         Coal tar or emulsion type sealers
       are commonly used on driveways.         
     

  •         Rejuvenating or penetrating sealers
      to modify or improve the characteristics of the
    upper portion of the
    asphalt surface.
     

  •          Slurry seals, which are thicker
        versions of emulsion sealers.
     

  •          Proprietary surface treatments --
        a blend of one or more of the above families of treatments.
     

  •        A thin, hot mix asphalt overlay.
