Chapter Eight -- You Wrote the Letter of Love
TRL producers stepped out and gave us a sign that TRL was gonna start soon. "Okay, counting down... five, four, three, two, one..."
"Welcome, it's March 22, Total Request Live. On today's show, we're gonna premier Lori's new video, Lori will be here and our top 10 request of the day."
~ After commercial ~
"Hi everybody, you're watching TRL here on MTV. Today, we have Lori here with us."
"Hi everyone..." I said.
We did an interview. I was kinda co-hosting the show that day. After we premiered the video, Carson said, "That was the world premier of Lori's new video 'Love is...'. Be sure to check out the new album from Lori 'Love is...' which hit store today."
First time on TRL was an incredible experience. By that time, I really started to get use to the new life style and started to like it a lot.
~ A month later -- Lori's house ~
I was gonna leave for Hong Kong the next day. For the past month, I had sold about 2 million albums, which was a really good record. Things went really cool between cool between me and Nick. We spent lots of times together: hanging out, he always came over to my house and we would talk and watch tv for the whole night. It was until just now I found out Nick was going out with his ex-girlfriend Winnie the next day, on the day I was leaving for Hong Kong. Brian told me about it. I knew that in the past month she had been calling Nick a lot. But this thing is one thing I surely didn't expect. I sat down in my room and decided to write Nick a letter, telling him exactly how I felt.
Dearest Nick,
Wassup? Well, how was your date with Winnie tonight? I heard it from Brian. So did you guys have fun? Anyways, when you read this letter, I'm probably on the plane, on my way to Hong Kong.
Thank you Nick... well, for everything. I really enjoy every moment we were spending together in the past few months, can't believe that sometimes we could even talk and watch tv for the whole night. It is almost half a year since I get to know the true side of the Backstreet Boys. We turned out to be really good friends, right? So I guess friends should be true to one another, so here I am, writing this letter, telling you exactly how I feel.
As you know, I've been a fan of yours and the boys since 5 years ago. I like you a lot. It was until I really got to know you, this feeling just keep on growing faster and faster. I really thought that it was those kind of celebrity crushes. But sooner, I figured out that stuff are never that simple. I think I really fell for you this time, not because of what you are, but who you are. You might wonder why I wrote you a letter instead of telling you about this, to tell you the truth, I don't want to lost this precious friendship, another thing is that I never get the courage to tell people what exactly my feelings are.
As I found out about you and Winnie today, I realized once again, things are never working out the way I wanted them to be. In the following two to three months, things are gonna change a lot, and I know it will be an entirely different world when I come back.
Anyways... it's time for me to go now, no matter what, I just want you to be happy Nick, that's all I'm asking for.
Regards,
Lori
I put the letter on my desk and went to bed. I decided that I would put that in Nick's mailbox before I left.
~ The next day -- 3:00 pm ~
I was done with packing up and it was time to go to the airport. My flight would be on 6:00 pm. I picked up my suitcases and walked downstairs, with the letter on my hand. I was thinking all night the night before, whether I should give Nick the letter or not. When I opened the front door, I made my decision, I squeezed the letter in my hand and threw it into the rubbish bin. I got on the van and headed for the airport.
~ Winnie's house -- 5:00 pm ~
"Nick, let's watch this movie." Winnie said, with a DVD on her hand. "Nick, hello?" She started to wave in front of Nick, he was not paying any attention.
"huh? What did u say Winnie?" But his eyes never left the clock.
"What's wrong with you Nick?" She layed her head on his shoulder. This reminded him of Lori, how they always felll asleep on the couch after watching a whole night of tv.
"Hey... do you mind?" He slightly pushed Winnie's head away from his shoulder. "I'm not your boyfriend anymore."
"Friends do that too, don't be sensitive Nick."
"I said NO!" Nick stood up, "Winnie, I really gotta go now.. Bye!" He rushed out the door and drove away.
