"Sure Nick. I told David I'm going with you anyways." Lori replied with a warm, friendly smile.
~ LAPD Headquarter -- 12:15 pm ~
Nick and Lori walks in the door.
"Hey! Where have you guys been? Come on over, we're talking about the annual dinner." Ethen is always the hyper one when parties are mentioned.
"First of all, I'm in charge of this little 'committee.' We are planning to have every couple perform on stage. Well... I'm not sure for myself since I'm hooked up with a blind date, rite cuz?" Kevin is looking at Brian.
"Really Kev? Who's your date? So Brian you hook him up?" Nick looks at Kevin and Brian curiously.
"Yes, I did Nick. The girl's name is Melissa, she's a computer specialist in our computer department. She is Michelle's best friend... a sweet girl."
"Brian, who are you going with then?"
"Oh... I'm going with Michelle."
Almost at the same time, everybody looked at Nick. "Nick, you haven't go for two years, are you going this year?" Kevin asked.
"Yes I am." Once again, Nick catches everybody's attention.
"Who is the lucky girl then? Going with our super idol Nick Carter..."
"How bout you guys make a guess?" Nick said as he brush his hand through his blonde hair.
"Is she in our team?"
"Yes."
"Good friend with you?"
"Yes."
"Your partner?"
"Yes."
Mandy is so happy at what she's lstening to. She thinks Nick is going to ask her in front of everybody. She thinks Nick is talking about her.
"So it's either Mandy or Lori."
"Okay, you guys, alright... that's it. It takes you guys forever to guess something. I'm going with Lori. I asked her just now."
Mandy's heart drops from the top of the mountain to way deep under the sea. She cannot believe that Nick is actually going with Lori. She has just been here for only a little more than a month, and already, she got something Mandy had wanted for 2 years.
"Okay, guys! No more annual dinner stuff now. We've got work to do!" O'Keefe said as he put his gun on his waist belt.
"One of the major drug dealer is tracked down and refuse to surrender. He had another 14 men with him. They are surrounded by our colleagues but they have no way to take them down. Guys, it's show time for us!"
~ Echo Warehouse -- 12:45 pm ~
Major Crimes Department takes over the charge. "This is Detective O'Keefe. You have been surrendered by LAPD. There's nowhere to go. Now drop your weapons and surrender!"
The suspects just won't listen. They start shooting at the LAPD. Gun shots filled the air. Nick has shot down 7 guys by himself. 6 more shot down by the others. There are only 2 left. Nick starts to track them. Nick, hiding himself behind a truck, notices a shadow running pass. He found the major criminal. Just as he is going to fire to the major criminal, a bullet slashes right by his gun-holding hand. He drops the gun and finds himself injured. The man is pointing the gun at Nick's forehead. Nick closes his eyes, he thinks that he's going to die. The last thing on his mind is Lori, he thinks about her, she appeared in his mind in a series of film strips like images, every smile she has... and every word she says start echoing in his mind...
BANG! A bullet is fired.
Silence fills up the air.
