More on Miller

Some years ago I was able to use a searchable data base at the Tacoma Public Library to find many, or perhaps all, of the buildings for which Albert Miller was the contractor, builder or architect. These include the apartments at 909 North M, the Blue Mouse Theater at 26th and Proctor, and various other buildings including four more apartment buildings, a church, six homes, three stores, three manufacturing plants and a brewery. His most noteworthy building may have been the Superintendents Lodge at Point Defiance Park.

Recently, while doing some research on the internet, I ran across an article on the brewery as well as another about condominiums that he built. The brewery may by now have been demolished but I suspect the condominiums still stand. There are pictures in both articles, so I am including links here to both.

The first, formerly the Heidelberg Brewing Company headquarters, built starting in 1900, was slated to be demolished to make way for a Holiday Inn Express. The article was dated December 13, 2007. If someone checks it out, please let me know if the building still stands. Heidelberg Brewery

The second, Tacoma’s first condominium, consists of twelve units built in 1922. The article was taken from the National Historic Register so I have no idea how old it is. Again, I would love to know if the building is still there. Gray Gables

Finally, if anyone would like to take a digital photo of the Blue Mouse theater at 26th and Proctor, I would certainly like to include it here.
