Hollister, R.E.A.C.H., Inc., is a non-profit community organization located in northeast North Carolina near Medoc Mountain State Park in historically significant Halifax County. The area is an isolated rural community with a beautiful rolling countryside that in the past boasted of cotton fields, tobacco fields and produce farms. Times change and the farming is no more.
We have an extremely active schedule of programs in additions to a very busy Thrift Shop that operates year round. Among our programs are senior programs that bring our seniors together weekly for exercise and social activities, daily after school programs, weekly exercise sessions, computer classes, music classes, adult craft classes, Summer Youth Camp and we also offer monthly health screenings.
In addition to the programs listed above, we have seasonal activities that bring special events to the community all year long such as, Summer cook outs, Fall fundraising activities and in December we host a Christmas Dinner and invite the whole community.
Hollister R.E.A.C.H. also offers office space to organizations that are located in other towns but have clients in our area. One of those is USDA, Rural Development. Their page is listed at the end of this page.
Our biggest project right now is our Meadows Water and Sewer District Project. This project has been ongoing for over two years, starting out as the Alternative Wastewater Systems Project, and things have been accomplished that were believed to be impossible. WE BELIEVE, if we can dream it, we can do it . . . . and we did! We had help from the Halifax County Commissioners, the Haliwa-Saponi Tribe, Halifax Environmental Health and community organizations; NOW-CDC (Native Opportunity Way), located here in Hollister and CCT (Concerned Citizens of Tillery), located in Tillery, North Carolina.
