Battalion 2 Headquarters

Station Two opened in 1902 on W. Main St. The current station opened in 1951. Station Two houses Engine Co.2, Ladder Co. 2, Squad Co. 2 and Battalion 2. Daily staffing consist of 8 firefighters, 2 officers and a Battalion Chief. Station Two is first due to North Carolina School of Math and Science, Duke University and Duke Hospital, Veterans Affairs Hospital and a high number of nursing homes. There are also numerous student dorms located near the station. Station Two also covers Northgate Mall and several commercial structures. Station Two responds to several high rises structures first due, and responds second due to downtown. Station Two also covers the Ninth Street district consisting of several bars, restaurants and stores. Station Two also respond to parts of the Durham Freeway and Interstate 85. The largest apartment complex in Durham is located blocks from Station Two.
