Did You Know?

Brushing: Never brush a dry coat, as this will break off the ends of the hair. Use a spray bottle filled with plain water or a grooming mixture of One tablespoon of cream rinse made for dogs and eight ounces of water.

Handy Grooming Tools: pin brush, scissors, slicker brush, nail clippers, flea comb, tooth brush and doggy toothpaste, towels, shampoo for dogs, mat rake, conditioner, grooming gloves, clippers.

Trimming: Trim the hair around the anal opening about one inch in diameter to keep feces from sticking to the hair.

Shedding: Poms shed their coat in two different ways, and each type requires a different grooming method. Males shed once a year and the females at each season. Poms will blow their coat all at once with large clumps of hair separating from the body. Brush out the clumps with a slicker brush, bathe, blow dry and brush again. You must brush before you bathe the dog or the undercoat will form mats. Repeat this a weak later and you should find most of the shedding is finished. The second type of shed, the hair doesn't clump but falls out continuously. Bathe the dog blow-dry for the next two weeks brush daily.
