PATRIOTS FACE VIKES IN SOCCER WEDNESDAY

The first-place Pinecrest girls' soccer team defeated upset-minded Hoke County 4-1 in Raeford Wednesday.      The Patriots took a 1-0 lead about 15 minutes into the contest when Lyndsey Anderson finished a cross from Kate Hieronymus. Later in the half, Latanya Cain put away a rebound off a shot by Morgan Maples, making it 2-0.      Early in the second half, Kristina Stevenson connected from long range for the Bucks, but Cain and Anderson countered with Patriot goals.       The victory raised Pinecrest's record to 4-0 in the conference (5-1-1 overall). The loss was the first in the league for Hoke.
