All of the scoring came in the first half as the Pinecrest girls’ soccer team settled for a 2-2 tie at Lumberton Friday night. Erin Cooper of the Patriots and Megan McIntyre of the Pirates each scored a pair of goals. The tying marker by the Patriot senior was scored in the final two seconds of the half off of a cross by sophomore Lauren Broderick. Pinecrest took 34 shots to four for Lumberton in the match. Three of Pinecrest’s last four matches have been tied at the end of regulation. The Patriots defeated league foes Richmond County and Jack Britt in overtime. Because it was a non-conference affair, Friday night’s game was allowed to remain a tie. Pinecrest, now 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the Mid-Southeastern Conference, returns to league play Monday when it entertains Westover at 6 p.m. Lumberton of the Two Rivers Conference is 6-3-2. The Patriot junior varsity (4-0) defeated Lumberton 8-0 in the preliminary contest. The goals were scored by Megan Cole (three), Brittany Dishner (two), DeAnna Jackson, Malorie Potts and Georgia Haas. <-Previous 3-26-03 at Jack Britt (W, 3-2) 3-31-03 vs Westover (W, 11-0) Next-> |
