A late first-half goal by Lauren Broderick stood up as Pinecrest defeated Lee County 1-0 for its first win of the season Tuesday night in Sanford.      Freshman goalkeeper Katelyn Burwell recorded her first shutout with an eight save effort.      The goal in the 38th minute was set up by a shot on goal from midfielder Holly Thompson. When the ball was bobbled by the Yellow Jacket goalkeeper, Broderick was there to finish it.      The home team’s best chance to knot matters up came in the 77th minute. A Jacket player was fouled in the Pinecrest penalty area resulting in an indirect kick. Daryl Guerrero’s attempt to pierce the Patriot wall went just over the bar.      Overall, Pinecrest, now 1-1, took 23 shots to nine for Lee playing its first game of the season.      Patriot coach Lorna Martin was particularly pleased with the play of her first-year keeper.      “She had several good saves tonight,” the coach said of Burwell. “One thing she has been working on is diving to her left. She had a good save going that way, so she was happy with herself.”      Friday and Saturday, the Patriots will be in Jekyll Island, Ga., for the Get Some Balls Tournament. The schedule calls for them to play the Walker School on Friday at 4:30 p.m. Saturday’s games are at 9 a.m. against Savannah Country Day and at 12:15 p.m. versus Sprayberry.      The Pinecrest jayvee team (2-0) allowed no shots in defeating Lee 3-0. Porsche Maher, DeAnna Jackson and Malorie Potts scored the goals.
