All of the scoring came in the first half as Pinecrest and Fayetteville Academy played to a 1-1 tie in a boys’ soccer game Wednesday evening. The Eagles’ John Jenkins opened the scoring in the 33rd minute by finishing a corner kick from Cory Sair. G.R. Horton knotted things for the visiting Patriots in the last minute of the half after winning a loose ball in the Eagle penalty area. It is the second year in a row that the teams played to a draw. Pinecrest, now 1-0-1, is off until Monday when it plays at South View with the junior varsity beginning at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity at 7 p.m. The Eagles, NCISAA champions in six of the last eight years, are now 3-1-1. The Patriot junior varsity, 2-0, won its game with the Eagles by the score of 5-0. Karl Ainslie scored three first-half goals and Wes Grannis was credited with the other two. <-Previous 8-20-04 vs. Lee County (W, 2-1) 8-31-04 at South View (W, 4-0) Next-> |
