DURHAM -- A Riverside High School student was critically injured in a head-on collision Monday night on Rose of Sharon Road near Marywood Drive.

The wreck happened just before 6 p.m. when a 1991 Honda driven by Kayla Paige Radack, 16, of Clarion Drive, crossed the center line and hit a 2001 Honda traveling in the opposite direction. Another car, a 1997 Volkswagen driven by Elliott Kyle Bisplinghoff of Quincemoor Road, was damaged when it veered off the road to avoid hitting Radack's car.

Radack was listed in critical condition Monday night at Duke University Hospital. The second driver, Beth Blevins Foster of Deerview Trail, had a broken foot and other nonlife-threatening injuries.

No charges have been filed, but police said they are investigating the accident. Traffic on Rose of Sharon Road was blocked for more than two hours after the accident, police said.
