PUBLIC INFORMATION

Looks like we are in for another hot summer this year,so be on the lookout for dangers.

Remember to drink lots of water if you are going to be outside working. Heat stroke can be a lethal illness that can occur when your body overheats. Try to work a while and take a break in the air conditioner. Also remember to check on your elderly neighbors or family members. Older people may be more susceptible to heat related illness. There are programs for the elderly and the less fortunate who don't have a means to keep cool so contact your local Senior Services or Social Services Dept. for more information.

Before you burn your brush from cleaning the yard remember to get your burning permits. You may obtain these by a link on this site, or look at a list of places to get your permit and remember they are FREE!! So what do you have to lose...

Brush fires can run rampant in the hot sun especially if there has not been much rain, so never leave your pile of tree clippings or yard trash and always have a water hose handy. Call 911 early if it does become too great to handle. REMEMBER you can not burn in the town of China Grove.

While planning summer outings in the pool, consider a lifeguard or enough adults to be responsible for younger children and always use sunscreen!!

We at CGFD sincerely hope you have a wonderful and safe summer!
