Comprised of two training battalions - Infantry Training Battalion (ITB) and Marine Combat Training Battalion (MCTBn), SOI trains more than 18,000 Marines annually.
After recruit training at Parris Island, Marines assigned to the Occupational Field 0300 (Infantry) report to ITB. The mission of ITB is to train and qualify Infantry Marines in one of the following Military Occupational Specialties (MOS): 0311 Marine Rifleman; 0331 Machine Gunner; 0341 Mortarman; 0351 Assaultman; or 0352 Antitank Guided Missileman.
All other Marines after recruit leave report to MCTBn. The mission of MCTBn is to train non-infantry Marines to be able to operate effectively in a combat environment. MCTBn trains Marines to employ a multitude of weapons, conduct combat patrols, construct defensive perimeters, and perform limited offensive operations.
Andrew trained at the MCT school until April 5th. He then transfered to his MOS school at Fort Lee VA.
