History & Terminology

Forward: To often we let the 'popular view' from society define who we are, what we believe, and how we see ourselves. In truth, the 'popular opinnion' is just that, an opinnion, and most asuredly one made out of ignorance.

It is time we stood on our own feet and let the truth be heard, and dispell some common misconceptions about witchcraft/paganism. For instance mention the word "witch" in company with anyone who would not consider themselves one and the images that come to them immediately are of the famous Halloween Hag (with her hooked nose and warty face) or Oz's very own wicked witch of the west. It is almost never that someone immediately thinks of Glenda the good witch, or any other positively portrayed witch in entertainment history. Why is that? One rule of thumb I follow for that type of thinking is this: 'people fear what they do not know or understand', thus needing a monster behind the concept.

I would like to help change some of those views and challenge the attitudes that surround them. I hope to do that here. I have spent years researching many different aspects of religion, the craft, paganism, shamanism, druidism, and many of the different practices that fall under those categories (as well as several eastern and Christian religions.) I like to keep a good frame of reference and try to understand other's ideals and beliefs as well as my own. I would encourage everyone else to do the same as well. For those of you hear out of curiousty, I hope you learn a little from this, for those of you who are just searching for more information, I hope you find what you are looking for. And for those of you who feel I have left anything important out, please, do let me know. Write to me with comments or suggestions at Raven Storm Inbox.

We are all students and constantly learning, never fear to teach and never think your learning is done.

Now, let's move on to what you came here to read to begin with...
