Could it be... Mistakes???

My oh my, what has Elwyn found?
Mistakes in the immortalized Vampire Diaries Series??
You betcha!!
Although as you can see, they're aren't that many, I have come across a couple...
Read on to see

The first and most major mistake wasn't really L.J. Smith's fault. It is stated over and over again in the series that Elena's eyes are blue (the color of lapis lazuli). Go ahead, go gets your books, any one of them, either printing edition. Now look close that the cover. Mainly Elena's eyes. What color are they? Yep, you got it. On all four books, both editions, Elena's eyes are as green as green can be!!

The second on may not really be a mistake, but more a case of something being left out. It is written that Katherine had always been a very sick child, then the last doctor said she would die. So Gurden gets Klaus, and he and Katherine exchange blood. The next morning Katherine is cured. Now it was very clear in the series that if you didn't die, the blood would simply work it's way out of your system. Thus the reason Stefan and Damon killed each other and Elena plunged into the river. It is never said when Katherine died. So if she didn't die, why didn't the blood just evaporate and she continue living as a human??
I have three theories on this. First, after she and Klaus exchanged blood, she was simply to weak and her body overcome with exhaustion, just gave out. A quote from the book makes that hard to believe "When he gave me his own blood to drink, I felt stronger than I had for months. And then we waited out the hours together until dawn." So if she felt so much stronger, how would her body give out?
My second theory is that after exchanging blood, Klaus killed her. This theory isn't that good either. Both Damon and Stefan were "dead" all through their funerals and being placed in their tombs. Elena is "dead" long enough for Stefan to mourn and then leave her. Who knows how long she lay there before "Awakening". So if he killed her then, how could she have been feeling so strong that she sat up until dawn with him?
My last theory has contradictions as well. Maybe Katherine got 'killed' later. This is the least plausible to me. Katherine tells Stefan that Klaus wanted to exchange more blood, but Katherine didn't want to. So therefore, unless she died soon after she exchanged blood with him the first time, his blood would have eventually left her body.

The third and (until I find another one) final mistake is so small it's really trivial. But, it bothers me enough to list it so here goes. On page 176, it's said that Damon's eyes are "almost black, but with odd lights in them." Then on the very next page it reads "they were like no eyes she had ever seen, black as midnight." So, how can they be almost black one second, and then completely black the second??

To see or not to be seen. Okay enough corniness. Can the vampires in The Vampire Diaries see their reflections? In The Awakening on page 43, Lj Smith gives us some foreshadowing that Stefan is a vampire without coming out and saying it. Elena is standing in the hall beside the classroom dorr waiting to ambush Stefan. "The compact mirror gave her a wonderful view of the hall behind her. Still, she missed him coming somehow. He was beside her suddenly, and she snapped the compact shut as he passed." So you would think that no Stefan doesn't have a reflection.
But, in The Fury on page 142, from Elena's point of view: "She caught a glimpse of herself in Meredith's mirror." And again on page 143 "Elena was gazing into the mirror again. The girl who gazed back was beautiful, but there was a sad wisdom about her eyes that the old Elena Gilbert had never had." So vampire Elena has a reflection.
So in this one, Elena may have just missed Stefan the first time. It's pretty clear however that she's specifically looking for him, so it seems odd that he could walk all the way down the hall with Elena not catching even a glimpse of him.
