Katherine Von Swartzschild

Here kitty, kitty , kitty. Okay, pop quiz - if you were a centuries old crazy vampire chick, who would you be? Correct answer, Katherine Von Swartzschild. Only a wee bit older than the Salvatore brothers, Katherine is a petite blue-eyed blonde from Germany. Racked by some devastating, yet unknown disease she is brought back to "life" by the original vampire Klaus.

It isn't said what exactly killed Katherine and allowed her vampireness to kick in. Perhaps her disease ultimately caused her demise, or Klaus may have done her in himself. Knowing that it wouldn't be long before her father realized that she wasn't aging, Katherine decided she would take a partner to live out eternity with. Her choice: Stefan Salvatore.

Letting Stefan in on her little secret, she was content. That is until Stefan's older brother Damon comes home. Irresistible to his dark charms, Katherine decides to change both brothers so the three of them can live together forever. Kinky huh? Unfortunate for Katherine though - the only thing the brothers had ever agreed on was that her idea would never happen.

To stop their feuding, Katherine retreats to a lone lemon tree and takes off her talisman ring, and is reduced to ashes. At least that's what she wanted them to think. Secretly returning to Klaus, she stayed with him, her evil growing by the day.

Drawn to the previously blood covered grounds of Fell's Church, Katherine happens to stumble across a modern day version of herself - Elena Gilbert.

Katherine lured Stefan and Damon to the town thinking that they would see Elena and miss her. But both brothers do exactly the opposite, they fall in love with her. Angered and hurt, Katherine wreaks havoc on Fell's Church and her foes.

Bent on destroying Stefan and Elena, Katherine does give Damon the choice of reigning with her or dying with the others. Katherine had made two mistakes that night though. Her ropes were not inescapable, and the girl wore her talisman on a chain around her neck. Elena broke free, lunging at Katherine, knocking them both into a small patch of sunlight, and ripping the ring from Katherine's neck. Katherine was immediately killed, turning this time into a real pile of ash.

The only thing Katherine did do right was remove Elena, Stefan, and Damon's own rings. If she had only lasted a few seconds longer, she would have been ecstatic to see that the sunlight had killed Elena as well. Ultimately, in the end, Katherine succeeded in taking Stefan and Damon's heart with her to the grave...
