Chapter One *6 months earlier*

As I climbed out of my parents car, I looked around at my new surroundings. I looked around at the place that was going to be my new life. My new home. I sighed.

"Do you like it?" My mom, Charlotte asked me excitedly, meaning our new house. I glanced up at the house. It was a large, two story brick building that had a balcony off of one of the rooms. The roof was a red colour to match the colour of the bricks and it looked bright and cheerfull, very different to my old house. I turned back to my Mom and nodded as I gave a smile.

"Sure Mom, the house looks great" I said. Mom grinned at me and started to help my Dad, Doug, to unload the back of the car, which was filled with boxes and odds and ends.

"Take a look around honey, your father and I can handle this" Mom called out happily to me.

"Ok" I called back, glad to get out of carting heavy boxes in to the house. I walked around the side of the house as I put on the headphones to my discman. I pressed play and the listened as the music filled my ears. I was listening to Matchbox20. I turned the volume down a little incase my parents called out to me. I walked into a huge backyard equipped with an inground pool, which was fenced off. I grinned when I saw that. My parents knew how much I loved to swim. The lawn seemed like it went on forever until it reached the back fence, which was covered with trees and bushes all along it. I then noticed that the right side fence had a gate in it. I made my way over to it and unlatched the gate and peeked around it. To my surprise, I saw that it was a gateway into our neighbours backyard. The backyard was empty but I saw that our neighbours also had an inground pool. I quickly shut the gate again, in fear of being caught and then accused of trespassing. I walked back up to the patio area and to the double glass sliding doors leading out to the backyard. I saw my parents walking in and out of the kitchen. The doors lead to an eating area that was spacious and bright. I opened the door and stepped inside. I smiled at my Dad when he walked in, carrying a large box marked "Kitchen".

"So, what do you think kiddo?" He asked me. I grinned at him and nodded.

"I love it... did you know that there's a gateway to our neighbours yard?" I asked. Dad shook his head.

"Nope... hey, that might come in handy. I think I remember being told that there is a girl your age next door. And some boy's your age living down the street also.. so you should make new friends pretty fast" Dad said to me.

"That's great. Do you think I should be a pest and go introduce myself? Or should I wait?"

"Hmm, that's a tough question, but maybe you should wait. You still need to see the rest of the house and then help me and your Mom"

"Yeah, I 'spose you're right. Where's my room?" I asked.

"Upstairs, the one with the balcony."

"That's my room?" I asked happily. Dad smiled at me and nodded.

"Sure is. Go take a look." He said. He didn't need to tell me twice. I walked quickly out of the kitchen and eventually found myself in my new room. It was two times bigger than my old one. The walls were a bright creme colour with my windows as the doors to the balcony. I had a walk-in robe and I was happy to find that the bathroom was only across the hall. I also discovered that I could lock my bedroom door. I went out of my room and to the top of the stairs. I leaned over the banister and called out.

"I love my room! Thanks Mom and Dad!"

"That's ok honey" Mom called back.

Later that night, Mom, Dad and I collapsed into sofa chairs and the sofa. Everything had been unloaded from the car and the moving van into the house and the house was a complete mess. But I knew Mom would stay up all night and unpack as much as she could.

"All I want to do right now is crawl into bed and sleep for a hundred years" I announced. "Hang on... I don't have a bed. It needs to be put back together" I said.

"Oh, no honey, I had the movers reasemble your bed for you before they left. You can go on up to bed if you want to" Mom said to me.

"Great. Ok then, night" I said as I got up off of the couch and headed to the foot of the stairs. I looked up the staircase, wondering if I had enough energy to go up them. I decided I did and slowly made my way up to my room. Boxes were everywhere. But atleast I had my bed and my dresser set up. I opened my suitcase and pulled out an old t-shirt and boxers. It was a hot night so I slept ontop of my covers that night. The next morning I woke up and didn't recognize my surroundings. I panicked for a moment and then remembered where I was. A glance around made me realise what I would be spending my day doing. I got up and headed for the bathroom. I was happy to see that Mom had already unpacked it, so that was one less room to do. After I showered, I wrapped a large towel around my body and dashed back into my room. I got out from my suitcase what I was going to wear that day. A pair of green cargo shorts and an army print singlet top. I got dressed and then as I brushed my blonde hair, I went over to the balcony doors and opened them. I steped out onto the solid, concrete ground and walked over to the railing. I leaned over and looked down the street, not that I could see much without my glasses on. But I saw two figures walking down the sidewalk, side by side. I could tell right away they were teenage boys. I went back into my room and retrived my glasses which were sitting on my dresser. I put them on and went back out onto the balcony. I could see the boys clearer and one looked to old for me, around eighteen. The other one on the other hand, looked my age, sixteen. When the boy's were closer, the older one looked up at me. I could feel my cheeks go red as he saw me and smiled.

"Hi there" He called out. The boy my age looked up and smiled.

"Hey" He called out.

"Hi" Was all I could think of to say. I cursed myself for sounding like an idiot.

"When did you move in?" The older boy asked as the boys walked to the front of my house and stopped so they could talk to me.

"Yesterday" I replied.

"Where from?"

"Denver" I lied. The older boy nodded as he said.

"Cool... well, I'm Isaac and he's Taylor". I smiled.

"I'm Jaida." I said. I then decided to be bold as I added "Where do you guy's live?"

"Down the street, number twenty-five" Taylor said.

"Oh, ok.. great" I said, once again, feeling like an idiot. Both Taylor and Isaac smiled at me.

"Well, we gotta get going. See ya round Jaida" Isaac said as he and Taylor turned around and headed for the house next door to me. I stayed where I was and watched them, Taylor in particular. I couldn't get over how gorgeous he was. Once at the front door, Taylor turned around and saw me watching. He smiled and waved before dissapearing into the house. I smiled to myself as I walked back into my room. My parents didn't even know I was up yet. But that didn't matter. I opened my bedroom door and then I started to unpack my room.
